Is my data safe?+
It never leaves your computer — there is no TradeLens server, so there’s nothing to send your data to. Your trades live in one SQLite file next to the app. The local AI coach is fully offline; if you choose a cloud key, it sees only the numbers TradeLens computed — never your login.
Does it work with prop-firm accounts?+
Yes — if your prop dashboard or platform exports CSV, or you take the challenge on MT4/MT5, import it. It’s especially useful for spotting the habits that push you toward a daily-loss breach: after-loss re-entries, oversized revenge trades, and your worst session — each priced so you see the risk before it costs you the account.
Can it handle more than one account?+
Yes. Import as many accounts as you like — re-importing always updates and never duplicates — and review each on its own or look across all of them. (If a combined cross-account view matters to you, the demo lets you see exactly how it groups them first.)
What can I do with the source?+
Inspect it, run it locally, and modify it — add your own views, KPIs, connectors, reports and workflows for your own (or your business’s) trading. The one limit: no reselling or redistributing TradeLens or its source, modified or not. Full terms are in the included LICENSE.md.
Can I extend it with Claude Code / Cursor / AI agents?+
Yes — that’s the point. The package includes AGENTS.md, START_HERE_AI.md, docs, tests and a developer recipe book so your AI coding agent can understand the codebase before it changes it. Ask it to add a connector, a KPI, a chart, a report or a whole new view.
Do I need to be a developer?+
No, if you only want to use the app — one launcher and you’re running. Yes, for deep customization — but the included AI-agent guide is built to let Claude Code / Cursor help you make safe changes step by step.
How is this different from Edgewonk / TraderVue / a Notion journal?+
Those are good tools — but they’re cloud journals you rent, with your trades on their servers. TradeLens is self-hosted (your data never leaves your machine), you own the source, every stat is deterministic arithmetic locked by tests, and the AI coach explains your real numbers instead of you copy-pasting them into a chatbot. The download edition is one payment — TradeLens Cloud is a separate optional subscription.
What if my trade history is messy?+
That’s the normal case. The CSV mapper lets you match your columns once; pre-built templates cover MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView; and re-importing is idempotent, so you can clean and re-load without ever creating duplicates. The 426-trade demo lets you see the whole app before you wrestle your own export.
Will the AI see my broker login?+
No. The only optional broker connection is a read-only MT5 investor password — it can’t place a trade and is never shared with any AI. A local coach is fully offline; a cloud key sees only the computed numbers, never your credentials.
Does it trade for me, or give signals?+
No. TradeLens reviews trades you already took — it never places one, and it’s not a signal service or a bot. It shows you the truth about your own trading and suggests what to review next; the decisions stay yours.
I’m not technical — can I still run it?+
Yes. Double-click one launcher (Windows / macOS / Linux) and it installs and opens itself. Or hand the included AI-setup guide to ChatGPT or Claude and it sets everything up for you. The only thing you install is Python.
Do I pay monthly for the AI?+
No. A free local model is bundled and runs entirely on your machine. Your own Claude / GPT / Gemini key is optional, for sharper coaching — and the rest of the app works fully with no AI at all.
Will it make me money?+
It finds and prices your leaks and keeps you disciplined — that’s what it promises, and nothing more. The trading is still yours, so there are no false promises here. TradeLens makes the truth cheap to see; acting on it is up to you.
