FTMO Payout Rules: When You Can Withdraw and What You Keep

Pick your FTMO program and size, enter your first trade and your closed profit, and see the earliest day you can request a Reward, the split, what reaches you and the rule in the way. Every rule is read from FTMO's own pages on 2026-10-17, the new Instant Account and FTMO Futures included.

PL · 11 min readUpdated
Explainer cover titled FTMO payouts: the 14-day clock. A timeline runs from the first trade to day 14, Mon 19 Oct 2026, where the request window opens; under it, a bar splits an invented $6,200 of closed profit on a $100,000 2-Step account into $4,960 for the trader at 80% and $1,240 for FTMO.

You can request your first FTMO Reward on the 14th day after your first trade on the FTMO Account, or later, with every position and pending order closed. The 2-Step pays 80% of closed profit, 90% after the Scaling Plan or Prime, and refunds the fee with the first Reward. The 1-Step and the new Instant Account pay 90% but refund nothing and add a consistency rule. FTMO reviews a request in 1–2 business days.

Earliest request: Mon 19 Oct 2026

2 days to go. On this profit you'd receive $4,960 at 80%, plus your €540 fee back.

  • 14 days: not met. 2 days to go: from Mon 19 Oct 2026.
  • Everything closed: met. No open positions or pending orders.
  • $20 minimum: met. $6,200 of closed profit.

The split moves to 90% once you meet the Scaling Plan or Prime conditions. The fee goes back on the payment method you bought with, whatever you pick for the Reward. FTMO refunds what you paid: €439 if you bought on the special deal.

Starts on an invented $100,000 2-Step account whose first trade was 12 days before your today. The rules are FTMO's, read on 2026-10-17; where its pages leave a gap, the check takes the stricter reading. It reads what you enter, not your Account MetriX, which is the source of truth.

It opens on an invented $100,000 2-Step account: first trade 12 days ago, $6,200 of closed profit, a $3,400 best day. Only the clock is in the way. In 2 days the request opens, and it pays $4,960 at 80%, plus the fee back. Switch to 1-Step and the consistency rule joins in: $3,400 is 54.84% of $6,200, so FTMO wants $6,800, $600 more on smaller days. Tick "Ordered before 12 Oct 2026" and leave "Account merged on or after 12 Oct 2026" unticked: the legacy share is 45.95% of $7,400. Tick the merge box and the current 54.84% applies again, regardless of the older order.

When can you withdraw from FTMO?

On the 14th day after your first trade on the account, or any day after. You request in Account MetriX, and FTMO's FAQ puts it this way: "on the 14th or any following day after the first trade is placed on the specific account," with "All open positions and pending orders" closed.

  • The clock runs per account. After a Reward "you get a new account" (account changes FAQ), so the next 14 days start with your first trade on that one. That's our reading: FTMO doesn't spell out the second cycle.
  • Worked example, invented dates: first trade on Mon 5 Oct 2026, earliest request Mon 19 Oct 2026. Trading more in between doesn't move it.
  • Instant Account: the same wait, from the first trade on it. "You can request your first Reward 14 days after the first trade is placed" (how long it takes).
  • Supreme Status, the top level of the Premium Programme, lists "Immediate reward withdrawals". It takes an active $400,000 Prime FTMO Account first (Premium Programme).
  • FTMO Futures has no 14-day wait. A payout cycle needs 4 qualifying days on Growth or 5 on Pro (below).
The 14 days count from your first trade on that FTMO Account, not from the day you passed.

What is the FTMO profit split?

80% on accounts from the 2-Step, 90% once the Scaling Plan or Prime conditions are met, and 90% from day one on the 1-Step and the Instant Account. FTMO Futures lets you "withdraw 90% of the amount you requested".

ProgramDefault splitAfter the Scaling Plan or Prime
2-Step80%90%
1-Step90%90%, no change
Instant Account90%Eligible for neither
FTMO Futures90/10Its own rules
  • Prime, the Premium Programme's first level, needs at least 4 Reward cycles on FTMO Accounts from the same order, each with "a profit of at least 4% of the Initial Simulated Capital", and no failed FTMO Account in the last 4 months. On $100,000 that's four cycles of $4,000 or more, counted before the split.
  • Rollover, 2-Step only: you can roll a Reward into the next FTMO Account. The split comes off first, and the rolled amount later pays at 100% "to avoid reducing the Reward by the Reward Ratio twice." On the 1-Step and the Instant Account, "Rollovers are not supported".
  • FTMO Points: you can take a Reward "in whole or in part" as FTMO Points, one point to €1, spendable only with FTMO or its affiliates.

How does the Scaling Plan change your payout?

Every 4 months it adds 25% of your starting balance, up to $2,000,000 across all your FTMO Accounts, and on the 2-Step it moves the split to 90%. To scale, you need:

  • an FTMO Account from the 1-Step or 2-Step: "the Scaling Plan does not apply to the FTMO Instant Account";
  • 4 months as an FTMO Trader under the same order, or since the last scale-up;
  • "At least 10% net simulated profit above the starting balance" in those 4 months;
  • "At least 2 processed Rewards" in the same window, and a positive balance on the day.

FTMO's own example starts from $400,000, two merged 2-Step $200,000 accounts:

AfterAccount sizeMaximum Daily LossMaximum Loss
0 months$400,000$20,000$40,000
4 months$500,000$25,000$50,000
8 months$600,000$30,000$60,000
12 months$700,000$35,000$70,000
16 months$800,000$40,000$80,000
The cap$2,000,000$100,000$200,000

Each step is a quarter of the original $400,000, not of the size before it. The 90% share is "(valid for 2-Step only)". 1-Step accounts can scale too, and they're at 90% already.

How is an FTMO Reward calculated?

On closed profit: the balance with every position and pending order closed, minus the starting balance, times your split. Open trades don't count, because the balance "changes only when a trade is closed" (balance and equity).

Three invented requests, each on a $100,000 account closed at $106,200:

AccountProfitSplitRewardAlso
2-Step, first Reward$6,20080%$4,960the €540 fee back
2-Step, Scaling Plan reached$6,20090%$5,580none
1-Step, $3,400 best day$6,20090%None yetthe best day is 54.84%, over 50%; $6,800 of profit pays $6,120

FTMO keeps the rest: $1,240 of the first row. On the 1-Step, missing the 50% "is not treated as a rule breach"; you keep trading until your best day is back under it.

The Instant Account's Maximum Loss doesn't reset when you withdraw. It trails your highest closed balance, 10% of the start below it, and FTMO warns: "once your balance exceeds 110% of the Initial Simulated Capital, a Reward withdrawal would breach the Limit." Say a $100,000 Instant account closed as high as $111,000. The limit sits at $101,000, and a full withdrawal takes the balance back to $100,000, $1,000 under it.

This cap is our arithmetic; FTMO doesn't state it. It assumes a Reward always takes all the closed profit off the balance, which FTMO's 110% line implies but never says. On that reading, the 30% rule caps a payable best day at 3% of the start, $3,000 on $100,000: your highest closed balance has to stay at or under $110,000, so total profit can't pass $10,000, and the best day may be at most 30% of it. A $3,400 best day would need $11,333.33 of profit, past the line. FTMO publishes nothing on withdrawing part of a Reward, and it says "It is your responsibility to ensure the Reward withdrawal does not result in a breach", so ask its support before you plan around this.

What has to be true before you request?

  • Day 14 or later since the first trade on this FTMO Account.
  • Everything closed: no open positions, no pending orders.
  • No breached rule. On an FTMO Account, "continuous compliance with applicable Trading Objectives is required at all times."
  • 1-Step consistency: your best day is at most 50% of total profit, losing days included. FTMO's example: a $6,000 best day needs at least $12,000 of total profit. Accounts from orders created before 12 Oct 2026 keep the Best Day Rule, 50% of your profitable days' sum, so a $10,000 best day needs $20,000 of them; an account merged since then moves to Consistency.
  • Instant consistency: at most 30% of total profit, which "starts again from zero" after each Reward. The withdrawal must also leave you above the Maximum Loss Limit.
  • Instant, first Reward: you complete FTMO Identity at the request, and "We cannot start processing your Reward until your FTMO Identity is approved." Compliance checks usually take under 1 business day for a person, up to 3 for a company (the contract FAQ).
  • Enough closed profit for the method: $20, or $50 for crypto.

How does FTMO pay, and how long does it take?

FTMO reviews the account "within 1–2 business days" of the request. Once it approves, you submit the invoice details in the FTMO Traders section, and the Reward "is typically sent within 1–2 business days after the invoice is approved." Add the two and a smooth request takes about 2 to 4 business days, plus however long the invoice step takes you. FTMO charges no commission on Reward withdrawals.

Does FTMO refund the challenge fee?

Only on the 2-Step. FTMO will "refund you the initial purchase fee once you request your first Reward withdrawal, using the same payment method you used". For the 1-Step and the Instant Account, "the entry fee is not refundable." You can take the refund as FTMO Points instead, but only "in full, not partially."

FTMO's payout pages make no distinction between the 2-Step's Standard and Swing types. On the 1-Step, "when a Reward is withdrawn and a new FTMO Account is provided, the Maximum Loss Limit fully resets, returning the first-day limit to 90% of the Initial Simulated Capital."

FTMO Futures payouts: a separate rulebook

FTMO Futures pays from a Sim-Funded Account once the payout cycle has its qualifying days, each with at least the minimum closed P&L, reviewed "at the end of the trading day."

  • Half must be new: "at least 50% of the requested amount must represent new profit generated during the current payout cycle". FTMO's example: $2,000 kept from earlier cycles and $400 of new profit allow $800.
  • FTMO's own worked numbers: a Growth 50K account $4,000 above the start can request up to $2,000, its 50%, under the $2,500 cap. At 90/10 that pays $1,800, and $2,000 stays for a later cycle.
  • Closing and carrying on: confirming the request closes your open positions and pending orders, the amount comes off the balance, and "the FTMO Trader can immediately resume trading."
  • Live Funded Account, by invitation only: after a one-time buffer, "you can request a payout daily" with "no payout cap".

Where do FTMO's own pages disagree?

  1. Best Day Rule or Consistency? The 1-Step page, last edited 2026-07-01, still lists a "Best Day Rule 50%". The Trading Objectives apply Consistency to orders created on or after 12 Oct 2026 or any account merged on or after that date (cutoff rechecked 2026-10-18). The check uses the legacy denominator only when the older-order box is ticked and the later-merge box is not.
  2. Growth's cap examples skip the 50%. On the Futures rules page, the Growth 50K cap example lets $4,000 of profit request "up to $2,500"; the same page's 50% Withdrawable Amount gives $2,000. The page says the amount "is further influenced by the payout cap", so the check takes the smaller.
  3. Pro's 100%. Pro can withdraw "up to 100%" of profit, but the Futures payouts FAQ warns against "violating the Maximum Drawdown on a Pro Sim-Funded Account by requesting a full withdrawal". Once the drawdown has locked at the start, a full request puts equity on a line it "cannot hit", so the check leaves $1 in.
  4. Immediate payouts. The withdrawal FAQ names no exception to the 14 days, and the Premium Programme gives Supreme traders "Immediate reward withdrawals". We read Supreme as the exception.

Frequently asked questions

When can I withdraw from FTMO?

On the 14th day after your first trade on the FTMO Account, or any day after, with every position and pending order closed. The Instant Account's first Reward waits the same 14 days. FTMO Futures has no 14-day wait: a payout cycle needs 4 qualifying days on Growth or 5 on Pro.

What is the FTMO profit split?

80% on accounts from the 2-Step, 90% once you meet the Scaling Plan or Prime conditions, and 90% from the start on the 1-Step and the Instant Account. FTMO Futures pays 90% of each request.

How long does an FTMO payout take?

FTMO reviews a request within 1–2 business days, and the Reward is typically sent within 1–2 business days after you approve the invoice: about 2 to 4 business days in all. Crypto requested by noon CE(S)T is processed the same day.

Does FTMO refund the challenge fee?

Only on the 2-Step: the full fee comes back with your first Reward request, on the payment method you bought with, or as FTMO Points in full. The 1-Step and Instant Account fees are not refundable.

What is the minimum FTMO payout?

FTMO asks for at least $20 of closed profit for bank wire, Visa Direct or Mastercard Send, and $50 for crypto. It lists Visa Direct and Mastercard Send up to $20,000 and Skrill up to $3,000. FTMO Futures pays from $20.

What is the consistency rule for an FTMO payout?

The 2-Step has none. On the 1-Step your best day can be at most 50% of total profit, losing days included. Directly initiated orders from before 12 Oct 2026 keep the legacy positive-days denominator only if the account was not merged on or after that date. A later merge uses the current rule. On the Instant Account the limit is 30%.

How does the FTMO Scaling Plan affect payouts?

Every 4 months, with at least 10% net profit and 2 processed Rewards in that window, the account grows by 25% of its starting balance, up to $2,000,000 across your FTMO Accounts, and on the 2-Step the split moves to 90%. The Instant Account can't scale.

Does withdrawing a Reward reset FTMO's maximum loss?

On the 1-Step, yes: the new FTMO Account's limit starts again at 90% of initial capital. On the Instant Account, no: once your closed balance has passed 110% of the start, withdrawing the Reward would breach the limit.
