Take Profit Trader buffer zone, drawdown floor and payout by account size (25K–150K)

Take Profit Trader runs three distinct rulebooks across its Test, PRO and PRO+ stages. In the monthly Test, your Minimum Account Balance trails your end-of-day (EOD) closed balance and your best trading day must stay strictly below 50% of total net profit. Once you activate PRO ($130 one-time, or waived on eligible promos), the consistency rule is removed and payouts open from day one at an 80/20 split, but the drawdown switches to intraday trailing (open profit included) and withdrawals only unlock above the Buffer Zone.

Why the PRO floor stops before your first dollar is withdrawable

The most common surprise on a 50K PRO account happens between $50,000 and $52,000. Because the PRO Minimum Account Balance trails your intraday peak (unrealized open profit included), a trade that takes the balance to $52,200 (+$2,200 open) and pulls back to close at $51,900 permanently locks your liquidation floor at $50,000, yet leaves $0 withdrawable because your flat closed balance is still $100 under the $52,000 Buffer Zone. You can compare this behavior with EOD vs intraday trailing drawdown models, Apex PA safety net rules and Topstep XFA payout rules.

Method and privacy

Method: PRO Buffer Zone = startingBalance + maxDrawdown ($52,000 on $50K). Intraday Minimum Account Balance = min(startingBalance, max(startingBalance − maxDrawdown, highestIntradayPeak − maxDrawdown)). Withdrawable above buffer = max(0, flatClosedBalance − bufferZone) at 80% (PRO) or 90% (PRO+). Moving profit to the wallet has no fee; withdrawing $250 or less from the wallet costs $50. PRO+ starts at a $0 balance with the floor at −drawdown, stopping at $0. Test strict < 50% best-day target = max(profitTarget, bestDayProfit × 2 + 1).

Common questions

How does the Take Profit Trader PRO Buffer Zone work?

Before you can withdraw at the 80/20 split without closing your PRO account, your flat closed balance must exceed Starting Balance + Max Drawdown ($52,000 on a $50K account, $103,000 on a $100K account, $154,500 on a $150K account). Only closed dollars above that Buffer Zone are withdrawable from Day 1.

Why did my Take Profit Trader PRO Minimum Account Balance lock at $50,000 when my closed balance is only $50,900?

In a PRO account, the Minimum Account Balance trails your highest intraday open-equity peak (including unrealized profit) and stops permanently once that intraday peak reaches the Buffer Zone ($52,000 on a $50K account). However, payout eligibility above the Buffer Zone only counts flat closed profit—creating a temporary gap if a trade pulls back before closing.

Is there a consistency rule on Take Profit Trader PRO or PRO+ accounts?

No. The 50% consistency rule applies only during the Trading Combine Test (where no single trading day can equal or exceed 50% of total profit, meaning an exact 50.0% day requires bestDay × 2 + $1). Both PRO and PRO+ have no consistency rule.

How do I avoid the $50 Take Profit Trader wallet withdrawal fee?

Moving profit from your PRO or PRO+ trading account into your TPT Wallet has no fee; withdrawing $250 or less from the wallet costs $50 (Take Profit Trader doesn't publish a minimum for the move to the wallet). Wait until your wallet withdrawal is over $250 to pay no fee.
