How do Goat Funded Trader's 5 PM ET floor, Goat Guard and 15% consistency rule work?

On Goat Funded Trader (GFT) accounts, the daily loss floor resets at 5 PM ET using the higher of your account balance or floating equity. Holding an open trade in profit across 5 PM ET ($107,000 equity on a $105,000 balance) raises your 5% 2-Step Standard floor to $101,650, leaving only $3,350 of room below your closed balance. In addition, funded evaluation accounts enforce Goat Guard (where floating open losses of 2% cut your profit split to 50% on the first trigger and breach the account on the second), while Instant accounts enforce a hard breach at 1% to 2% open floating loss.

Method and privacy

Method: 5 PM ET daily snapshot = max(balance_5pm, equity_5pm); daily floor = snapshot × (1 − dailyLossPct). On funded evaluation accounts, Goat Guard triggers when open trades are down 2% of initial balance (1st trigger cuts split to 50%, 2nd breaches); on Instant accounts, open loss of 1% (HERO/Premium) or 2% (GOAT) breaches immediately. First two payouts are capped at min(6% of initial balance, $10,000), and all rewards have a 3% processing fee deducted after the split.

Common questions

How does Goat Funded Trader's 5 PM ET daily drawdown reset work with open trades?

At 5 PM ET, Goat Funded Trader takes whichever is higher between your account balance and floating equity and sets the new day's floor 3%, 4%, or 5% below that snapshot. In GFT's own 2-Step Standard example, holding $107,000 of floating equity on a $105,000 balance sets the 5% daily floor at $101,650—leaving only $3,350 of room below your closed balance.

What is Goat Funded Trader's Goat Guard, and how does it differ on Instant accounts?

On funded accounts from 1-Step and 2-Step evaluations, Goat Guard triggers when your open trades together float down 2% of the initial account size ($2,000 on $100K): the 1st trigger cuts your profit split to 50%, while your positions stay open and you can keep trading, and the 2nd breaches the account. Instant accounts do not have Goat Guard—instead, a floating open loss of 1% (Instant HERO and Premium) or 2% (Instant GOAT) permanently closes the account immediately.

Which Goat Funded Trader models have a consistency rule?

Standard 1-Step, 2-Step GOAT, 2-Step Standard, and Instant Premium have no consistency rule. Instant HERO and Instant GOAT enforce a 15% consistency rule: GFT's trading rules say a best day of 15% or more of total profit fails it, while the Instant HERO page says more than 15%, so the calculator treats exactly 15% as failing. A $1,500 best day needs more than $10,000 of total profit.

Why is my first Goat Funded Trader payout smaller than 80% of my total profit?

First, the first two payouts on any account are capped at 6% of initial balance or $10,000, whichever is lower ($6,000 gross on a $100K account, or 4% on $5,000 2-Step/HERO accounts). Second, funded evaluation accounts cap single-day profit at $3,000. Third, a 3% processing fee is deducted from your reward share after the 80% or 90% split.

These tools calculate from your inputs, supported historical records or explicitly labelled teaching examples. They do not verify a live account, predict future returns or confirm that a broker or prop-firm rule has been met. Missing costs, floating losses and changed market conditions can materially change outcomes. Trading can lose the capital committed to it; check the stated method and your account specifications.
