Short answer: the ten most-boosted open-source gold scripts on TradingView are gold indicators by name. In their code, none changes its rules for gold: two read the ticker only to print pips or ounces, and one defaults to a take-profit of 11.0, with no symbol check. If you want one you can test before you trust it, start with Gold Breakout 15M Strategy by WillyAlgoTrader: it's a strategy, so the Strategy Tester runs it with its stop, its time exit and a commission.
Most lists name gold indicators.
This one reads them.
What we checked
We searched TradingView's scripts for six gold terms on 26 October 2026 ("gold", "gold indicator", "gold strategy", "xau", "xauusd indicator" and "gold trading"), which returned 204 scripts. We took the ten most-boosted open-source scripts named for gold, XAU or XAUUSD, down to 2,164 boosts, and read every line that decides a signal. Four questions:
- What it computes: moving averages, RSI, order blocks, ranges, round numbers?
- What is about gold: does anything in the code change for gold, or is it only in the name?
- When it decides: on a closed candle, or on the live one?
- The stop: does it draw a stop, or only an entry?
Scripts named for the golden ratio, a golden cross or "Goldbach" aren't about gold the metal, so they aren't here; nor is Zeiierman's Golden Swap (3,692), whose code has nothing about gold.

Four more gold scripts in that range are protected (code hidden), so we couldn't read them: GOLD SUPER TREND ARROW SIGNALS STRATEGY WITH PERFORMANCE (4,975), Khosro XAUUSD Strategy by TradingFinder (2,908), GOLD FUTURES TRADING STRATEGY AND SIGNALS WITH PERFORMANCE (2,308) and XAUUSD Pro Scalper (2,247).
What the code says
The ProjectSyndicate order block finder is the most boosted, and it tidies its own history. From each swing with 7 candles on each side it looks back for the first opposite-colour candle lying more than 1.3 times its own range beyond the swing, draws every zone 0.75 ATR(14) tall around that candle's middle, and scores it out of 10 on displacement, session, age and size. It decides on closed candles, then deletes a zone once a close goes through it and keeps at most five a side, so the chart shows only the zones still standing. Its sessions are fixed hours in GMT with no daylight-saving shift. Its gold code converts the labels' distances to pips, 0.01 a pip, and nothing else. Its strength filter, 3.0 by default, can't remove a zone: the lowest score a new zone can get is 4.5.
TPG's RSI script is careful about the close, and generous in its table. A buy is a bullish engulfing candle with RSI(7) at 15 or below, or an RSI divergence, unless its EMA stack points down; everything waits for the close. Its table shows a win rate from its own simulation, one trade at a time, with a stop and a target 1 ATR away, and a trade that runs out its 20 candles counts as neither a win nor a loss. The "confidence %" on its labels is an allocation suggestion, which its code calls "a heuristic score, not a statistically validated probability of winning." It is shared under MPL 2.0. How other scripts define the engulfing candle itself, body or range, and whether they wait for the close: best engulfing candle indicators, code-read.
T3 Gold Sniper has neither a T3 nor gold. Its moving averages are EMA 21, 55 and 89 and an 18-candle TMA by default, from a list of 11 types that doesn't include the T3 average; an arrow prints when they line up and a SuperTrend agrees. Several of its options can never fire, and its moving averages aren't plotted. It decides on the live candle. It is written in Pine v3 and shared under MPL 2.0.
TradingFinder's Gold Scalper is a swing-failure setup with nothing for binary options. A wick through a swing with 5 candles each side, closing back inside, starts it; then a retest at least five candles later, a close through the last opposite swing, and a dip into a fresh fair value gap fire the signal, on closed candles. It draws the levels but no entry, stop or target, and despite its name the code has no expiry logic. It is shared under MPL 2.0.
Scalper Pro 3 Min Gold draws a stop, on the live candle. After the last 10 candles stayed within 3 ATR, a bullish candle crossing above the last swing high with 3 candles each side is a long, with the stop at the last swing low and the target at 2R, then 30 candles of cooldown. It has no closed-candle check, no timeframe check and no alerts.
GK XAUUSD Sniper Adaptive has a target and no stop. Three of its nine tests, or either of two built-in patterns, print a buy or sell on a closed candle, once per trend; PREPARE dots appear only on the live candle and never in history. A "TP" label marks price reaching 11.0 from the entry, an input set to 11.0 by default and not tied to any symbol. There is no stop in the code, and its weekly "Score %" is target hits over signals: with no stop, a signal that falls any distance before it rises 11.0 still counts as a hit.
Ighodalo Gold's CRT reads hourly ranges, and its shapes and alerts can disagree. It finds the oldest hourly candle in the last 20 whose range later candles stayed inside, and marks a buy when a low reaches to within 0.1 ATR of that range's low and the candle closes no more than 0.1 ATR below it. The shapes can print on the live candle; the alerts wait for the hour to close, and if the first touch comes mid-hour, that range's alert never fires. More on the idea in the best CRT indicators.
Gold Breakout 15M Strategy is the one you can test. It is a strategy: stop orders at the high and low of the 00:00–07:00 range in broker time (GMT+3 by default), one trade a day, a stop 1% from the fill, no take-profit, and out at 20:00. It sizes for 1% of equity at risk, charges a commission of 0.4 an order and models no spread, which its own header says. Its gold code sets 100 ounces a lot for its labels and, in its words, "does not restrict trading"; the 15 minutes in its name is a warning label, not a rule.
The last two are older and plainer. Sweetspot Gold RN (2019, Pine v4) draws round-number levels spaced by the tick size, and its author's note says it suits "all currency pairs I've tested, most commodities, and most stocks." Gold/Silver 30m Only Strategy (Pine v2) is titled "My Strategy" in its code; its short entry reads the oversold level, and its exits pass no stop or limit, so a trade ends only when the opposite entry comes.
What gold actually changes
Gold's day runs 18:00 to 17:00 New York, with a daily break, and its liquidity gathers at a few highs and lows: yesterday's, the Asia range's and the London range's. A spot chart and a 24-hour feed show different candles at the break, and New York's daylight saving moves every session an hour against GMT. None of the ten reads that clock; the ProjectSyndicate finder's sessions are fixed GMT hours, and the breakout strategy's range is broker time.
To size a gold trade from a stop distance, use the XAUUSD lot size calculator: a lot is 100 ounces on most brokers, so a $1 move is $100 a lot.
Ours
Gold Sweep Desk isn't on TradingView's search: its full Pine v6 source comes in Pine Pro Library, $49 once. It is built on gold's clock: every time is New York's, the candles while spot gold is closed are skipped, and its levels are yesterday's high and low and the Asia (20:00 to 24:00) and London (02:00 to 05:00) ranges. A sweep in the London or New York window, then a close through the nearest opposing fair value gap, gives a plan with a stop 0.1 ATR past the sweep, a 2R target and a 16:45 exit, decided on closed candles and written in words. Its refusals are named too: held, no gap, sweep failed, no flip. Gold Sweep Desk Pro adds the game plan for both sides before each window, seven context checks, SMT with silver and an eight-market Radar.
The rule step by step, with a clock you can try, is in the gold liquidity sweep strategy. We tested it twice on 2026 gold data and no setting became a tested default: the one candidate that passed its first period then lost 11.63R over 15 trades in its check period (every row). Comparing sweep scripts instead? The best liquidity sweep indicators, code-read.

- About gold: search the code for
XAU,GOLDandsyminfo. If they only feed a label, the rules are the same on any chart. - The close: look for
barstate.isconfirmedaround the signal, or for astrategy(call, which runs on the close by default. Without either, a signal you see live may not be there when the candle closes. - The stop: find the line that sets it. A target with no stop makes any hit rate look better than it is.
None of the scripts here, ours included, runs on MT5 or MT4: Pine Script runs only on TradingView.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best gold indicator on TradingView?
None of the ten most-boosted open-source gold scripts has gold in its rules: the names say gold, the math is generic. If you want one you can test before you trust it, start with Gold Breakout 15M Strategy by WillyAlgoTrader (2,284 boosts): it's a strategy, so the Strategy Tester runs its overnight-range breakout with its stop, its 20:00 exit and a commission, though it models no spread.
Is there a free gold indicator for TradingView?
Yes. All ten scripts in our read are free to add, with their code open. Three are shared under the Mozilla Public License 2.0: TPG.Buy sell RSI Scapl XAU, T3 Gold Sniper and TradingFinder's Gold Scalper. The other seven carry no licence line.
What makes an indicator a gold indicator?
In these ten, mostly the name. None changes its signals for gold. Two check for a gold ticker only to print pips or ounces per lot, and one defaults to an 11.0 take-profit, an input with no symbol check. What is specific to gold is its clock: a trading day from 18:00 to 17:00 New York with a daily break, and session ranges set on that clock.
What is the T3 Gold Sniper indicator?
T3 Gold Sniper [RickAtw], 4,400 boosts, prints long and short arrows when its moving averages line up (EMA 21, 55 and 89 by default) and a SuperTrend agrees. Despite its name, the code has no T3 average and nothing about gold. It decides on the live candle, so an arrow can appear and vanish before the close, and it has one alert for both sides.
Do gold indicators repaint?
Some do. T3 Gold Sniper and Scalper Pro 3 Min Gold judge the live candle, and Ighodalo Gold's CRT shapes can print before the candle closes, though its alerts wait. GK XAUUSD Sniper Adaptive prints its buy and sell on closed candles but shows PREPARE dots only on the live one. The ProjectSyndicate order block finder decides on closed candles, then deletes zones once they are broken.
Is there a gold indicator for MT5 or MT4?
Not among these: every script here is Pine Script, which runs only on TradingView.
Which gold indicator does ProEA make?
Gold Sweep Desk, in Pine Pro Library, $49 once with its full Pine v6 source. It is built on gold's own clock: yesterday's, the Asia range's and the London range's highs and lows on New York time, sweeps in the London and New York windows, the flip, and a plan in words, decided on closed candles. Gold Sweep Desk Pro, $49, adds the game plan, context checks, SMT with silver and an eight-market Radar.
