Best CRT Indicators on TradingView (2026), Code-Read.

We read the code of the most-boosted open-source candle range theory (CRT) scripts on TradingView: which need C2 to close back inside C1, which read a candle that hasn't closed, and three that don't check CRT at all.

Explainer cover titled Best CRT indicators, code-read: a table of six open-source TradingView scripts with ticks, crosses and halves for three checks: whether C2 must close back inside C1, whether the script reads only closed candles, and whether it tracks C1's other side.

Short answer: for a free script that follows candle range theory (CRT), CRT Turtle Soup with HTF Candles, CISD and MSS by imrnshrf is the closest in our read: it reads closed higher-timeframe candles, needs C2 to sweep one side and close back inside C1, and tracks C1's midpoint and far side. The most boosted open-source one, Candle Range Theory by Flux Charts, needs the close inside too, but checks chart candles against the higher-timeframe range and sets its targets from ATR. The next most boosted open-source "CRT" script checks no CRT at all.

Most lists name CRT indicators.

This one reads them.

What we checked

CRT is three candles (explained, with replays). C1's high and low are the range. C2 trades beyond one side and closes back inside. C3 is expected to run to the other side.

We searched TradingView's scripts for nine CRT terms on 25 October 2026 ("crt", "candle range theory", "crt indicator", "crt model", "crt tbs", "crt turtle soup", "htf crt", "c2 closure" and "candle 2 closure"), which returned 103 scripts. We took the most-boosted open-source ones and read every line that decides when a setup is drawn. Four questions:

  • C1: which candle sets the range (a higher-timeframe candle, the chart's previous candle, or a fixed hour), and has it closed?
  • C2: must it close back inside C1's range, or is a close back past the swept level enough? Does a candle that takes both sides count?
  • C3: does the script mark C1's other side, and record when price gets there?
  • When it decides: on a closed candle, or on the live one?

Six of the 15 most boosted have closed code, so they aren't in the table: CRT Indicator (FENINVESTMENTS, 9,420 boosts), CRT + Daily Bias (Milana Trades, 6,604), CRT overlay 2 (6,303), CRT Trades (majky, 3,772), CRT Setup [HTF] (2,608) and CRT Model (xJMacD, 2,381). All six are protected: free to add, with the code hidden.

Named CRT, without CRT

Three of the most boosted carry the name and compare no candle with another:

  • CRT TBS (Jaden7601, 5,161 boosts), the second most boosted open-source CRT script, colours every candle whose body is larger than its two wicks combined. That is the whole script: 20 lines, no range, no sweep, no alert.
  • 4H CRT (1AM and 5AM) (poraymanfx, 2,686) shades the chart candles inside the 4-hour candles that open at 1:00 and 5:00 in the exchange's time zone.
  • ICT CRT Model Range with Equilibrium (Dimitris74, 2,122) draws the high, low and midpoint of one hour, 16:00 to 17:00 at UTC+2, for today only.

They may be useful. They don't detect CRT.

Scripts that only draw the previous candle's or the previous hour's high and low are code-read in the previous candle high low roundup. Scripts named for ICT's power of 3, which reads one day's candle from its open, are code-read in the power of 3 roundup.

What the code says

Flux Charts' is the popular one, and it checks the sweep on your chart's candles. It takes a large higher-timeframe candle as C1 (its range above 2.1 times its ATR, by default), waits for any chart candle to wick past one side and close back inside, and drops the setup if a chart candle closes outside. C2 isn't a higher-timeframe candle, so the 4-hour close never decides. Its targets come from ATR or a fixed percent, not from C1's other side. On live bars it reads the 4-hour candle still forming, so a live C1 can have a partial high or low. It runs on closed chart candles and is shared under MPL 2.0.

imrnshrf's is the closest to the rule. Published 3 October 2026, it reads closed candles from the 1-hour to the monthly in TradingView's safe form (one candle back, lookahead on). C2 must wick past one side, leave the other untouched and close back inside; a candle that takes both sides logs "Both sides taken (no signal)". It tracks C1's midpoint and far side as targets and alerts on both. Its default entry signal comes earlier: the first lower-timeframe candle (15-minute for a 4-hour CRT) that closes back inside the range, before C2 has closed. If C2's close then doesn't confirm, the setup stays on the chart, marked "(HTF candle did not confirm the Ts)". It also offers order block and iFVG retest entries, and marks CISD and MSS on the chart's own timeframe.

SATTAM's is close, with one gap. It reads closed higher-timeframe candles the same safe way and tracks the midpoint, the far side and an extension. But a sweep of C1's high only needs a close back under the high: a close below C1's low is marked as the target already hit, and when a candle takes both sides, the longer wick decides.

"Close back inside" often means "close back past the level". Candle 2 Closure, CANDLE RANGE THEORY (H1 Only) and CRT Marker accept a C2 that sweeps the high and closes below C1's low. CRT AMD and Candle Range Trading (CRT) with Alerts do check the whole range, on consecutive chart candles: put them on the 4-hour chart for a 4-hour CRT.

Four mark the live bar. CRT Master 974 and Candle Range Trading (CRT) with Alerts have no closed-candle check at all, so a mark can print mid-candle and vanish before the close. Candle 2 Closure and Ighodalo Gold's draw their labels and signals on the live bar too, though their alerts wait for a close. Ighodalo Gold's also counts a touch within 0.1 ATR of the level, with no sweep needed.

Ours

Fractal Model Desk isn't on TradingView's search: its full Pine v6 source comes in Pine Pro Library, $49 once. It's built for the TTrades Fractal Model, whose C2 rule is CRT. Set its View to Audit and it labels each sweep of the last higher-timeframe candle ("C2 · low swept"), C2's close ("C2 · inside C1" or "C2 · outside C1") and "C1 opposite level reached", all decided on closed candles. On a 15-minute chart it reads 4-hour candles and draws them beside price.

Where it differs from plain CRT: it watches through C4, it also accepts a C3 closure, and it keeps a two-sided sweep, marked unresolved. Its default Focus view shows only setups that also passed its CISD and delivery checks. How it compares with the Fractal Model scripts: best Fractal Model indicators, code-read; with the CISD scripts: best CISD indicators, code-read.

We also tested the skeleton it draws: 108 versions on 7 markets from January 2018 to September 2026. Before costs it was a coin flip, and no version passed after costs. The Fractal Model study has every number.

Check one yourself

  • Open source: search the code for request.security. [1] with lookahead_on reads the last closed candle; no offset reads the one still forming. Then look for barstate.isconfirmed before labels and alerts.
  • The C2 rule: find the line that sets the bearish signal. If it compares the close with C1's high and says nothing about C1's low, a close below the whole range counts.
  • The name: if the script never compares one candle's high or low with another's, it isn't detecting CRT, whatever its title.

None of the scripts here, ours included, runs on MT5: Pine Script runs only on TradingView. The MQL5 Market lists paid CRT indicators for MetaTrader 5; we haven't read them.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best CRT indicator on TradingView?

Free, in our read: CRT Turtle Soup with HTF Candles, CISD and MSS by imrnshrf. It reads closed higher-timeframe candles, needs C2 to sweep one side and close back inside C1, gives no signal when both sides are swept, and tracks C1's midpoint and far side. Its default entry signal can come earlier, on a closed lower-timeframe candle, and is marked when C2's close doesn't confirm it. It is new, published 3 October 2026, with 915 boosts. The most boosted open-source one, Candle Range Theory by Flux Charts (7,342 boosts), also needs the close inside, but it checks chart candles against the higher-timeframe range and sets its targets from ATR.

Is there a free CRT indicator for TradingView?

Yes, many. The most boosted, CRT Indicator by FENINVESTMENTS (9,420 boosts), is free to add, but its code is protected, so we couldn't read it. Of the open-source ones, imrnshrf's turtle soup script and SATTAM's CRT+TBS read closed higher-timeframe candles and track their targets.

Does the CRT indicator repaint?

It depends on the script. imrnshrf's and SATTAM's read only higher-timeframe candles that have closed. Flux Charts' and Ighodalo Gold's read the higher-timeframe candle that is still forming on live bars, so a live setup can differ from the same chart after a reload. Four put marks on the live bar, which can appear and vanish before the candle closes: CRT Master 974, Candle Range Trading (CRT) with Alerts, LuxAlgo's Candle 2 Closure and Ighodalo Gold's; the last two send their alerts only after a close.

What does the CRT TBS indicator do?

The script named CRT TBS, with 5,161 boosts, colours every candle whose body is larger than its two wicks combined. It has no range, no sweep and no alerts. SATTAM's CRT+TBS is a different script, and it does check the sweep on closed higher-timeframe candles.

Is there a CRT indicator for MT5?

Not among these: every script here is Pine Script, which runs only on TradingView. On 25 October 2026 the MQL5 Market listed paid CRT indicators for MetaTrader 5; we haven't read their code.

Which CRT indicator does ProEA make?

Fractal Model Desk, in Pine Pro Library, $49 once with its full Pine v6 source. Set its View to Audit and it labels each sweep of the last higher-timeframe candle, whether the next candle closed inside its range, and when C1's other side was reached, all on closed candles. It isn't CRT exactly: it also watches C3 and C4, and its default view shows only setups that pass its CISD checks.

Does a CRT indicator make money?

An indicator marks setups; it doesn't decide whether they pay. We tested the same sweep-and-close skeleton inside the Fractal Model: 108 versions on 7 markets from January 2018 to September 2026. Before costs it was a coin flip, and no version passed after costs.
