Goat Funded Trader Rules 2026: Every Model, Sourced and Dated.

1-Step, 2-Step GOAT and Standard, the new $99 100K promo and Instant HERO, GOAT and Premium: profit targets, the 5 PM ET daily reset, static and trailing maximum loss, Goat Guard, consistency, payouts, news, EAs, the VPS ban, who can join and prices, each read from Goat Funded Trader's own pages on 2026-10-19. Two $100,000 accounts, animated, show where the floors sit.

PL · 11 min read
Explainer cover titled Goat Funded Trader: the floor resets at 5 PM. A line chart of six days on a $100,000 2-Step Standard evaluation: the 5 PM snapshot, the higher of balance and equity, rises to $107,000 on Day 3 and falls to $94,000 by Day 6; an orange daily floor steps 5% under each snapshot, from $95,000 up to $101,650 and down to $89,300, and a red static Maximum Loss line stays at $90,000, which binds on Day 6 with $4,000 of room.

Goat Funded Trader rules depend on the model. On 2026-10-19 its plan cards sold a 1-Step (a 10% target, 3% daily loss, 6% static maximum), a 2-Step GOAT (8% then 6%, with 4% and 10%), a 2-Step Standard (10% then 5%, with 5% and 10%), a $99 100K promo and three Instant accounts whose maximum loss trails. Where GFT documents the daily loss, it resets at 5 PM ET, off the higher of balance and equity.

Four days per payout apply to 2-Step accounts bought from July 25, 2026 and 1-Step accounts from July 27; older ones need 3. A profitable day closes a trade and makes 0.5% of the initial balance after fees: $500 on $100,000. None of these has a time limit, but 30 days without a trade breaches any account. Seven more models live only in the help center (table below).

How Goat Funded Trader measures daily and maximum loss

At the 5 PM EST reset, GFT will "check the higher value between the Account Balance or Account Equity" and set the day's floor the model's percentage under it. Its own 2-Step Standard example: a $105,000 balance and $107,000 of equity make the threshold $5,350, so "Your balance/equity must stay above $101,650 for that day."

GFT's articles say "5 PM EST"; its GOAT $1 article says "5 PM New York time," and the trading-day article ties the reset to "the global forex market session rollover." Strict EST (UTC−5) would mean 22:00 UTC all year, 23:00 London in summer; GFT doesn't say which. We read it as New York clock time: it's 21:00 UTC while the US is on daylight time and 22:00 UTC in winter, and 22:00 in London for most of the year. A trade counts toward the day it closes in.

The maximum loss on the 1-Step and 2-Steps is static: "Your account equity or balance must never drop below 90% of your starting capital" on the 2-Steps, 94% on the 1-Step. Either limit is a hard breach.

Where Goat Funded Trader's floors sit.$100,000 on the 2-Step Standard evaluation and on Instant GOAT: the daily floor resets under the higher of balance and equity at 5 PM ET; the maximum loss stays put on the 2-Step and trails on Instant GOAT.

Day 6: 5% of $94,000 reaches $89,300, under the $90,000 Maximum Loss. The static floor binds: $4,000 of room.

Illustrative balances, not market data: Day 3 is GFT's own example ($105,000 balance, $107,000 equity); the other days are invented. The rules are GFT's, as quoted in the daily and maximum loss section and read 2026-10-19: a daily floor 5% under the higher of balance and equity at the 5 PM EST reset, and a static Maximum Loss 10% under the initial balance.

Rule: daily floor = the 5 PM snapshot (the higher of balance and equity) − 5% of it; Maximum Loss = the initial balance − 10% ($90,000), static. Equity reaching either is a hard breach, so the higher one binds.

Read as text
  1. Day 1 (invented): balance $100,000, equity $100,000 at 5 PM ET; the snapshot is the higher, $100,000. Daily floor $100,000 − $5,000 = $95,000; Maximum Loss $90,000, static. The tighter is the daily floor, $5,000 away.
  2. Day 2 (invented): balance $102,000, equity $102,000 at 5 PM ET; the snapshot is the higher, $102,000. Daily floor $102,000 − $5,100 = $96,900; Maximum Loss $90,000, static. The tighter is the daily floor, $5,100 away.
  3. Day 3 (GFT's example): balance $105,000, equity $107,000 at 5 PM ET; the snapshot is the higher, $107,000. Daily floor $107,000 − $5,350 = $101,650; Maximum Loss $90,000, static. The tighter is the daily floor, $5,350 away.
  4. Day 4 (invented): balance $103,000, equity $101,500 at 5 PM ET; the snapshot is the higher, $103,000. Daily floor $103,000 − $5,150 = $97,850; Maximum Loss $90,000, static. The tighter is the daily floor, $5,150 away.
  5. Day 5 (invented): balance $97,000, equity $97,000 at 5 PM ET; the snapshot is the higher, $97,000. Daily floor $97,000 − $4,850 = $92,150; Maximum Loss $90,000, static. The tighter is the daily floor, $4,850 away.
  6. Day 6 (invented): balance $94,000, equity $94,000 at 5 PM ET; the snapshot is the higher, $94,000. Daily floor $94,000 − $4,700 = $89,300; Maximum Loss $90,000, static. The tighter is the Maximum Loss, $4,000 away.

Breach: equity reaches the daily floor, $101,650. Goat Funded Trader closes the account: a hard breach.

Values and floors from the film: GFT's own examples plus invented days, under GFT's rules as quoted on this page, read 2026-10-19. The worst moment is closed plus open P&L, swaps and commissions against the value at the 5 PM ET reset; touching a floor counts as a breach here. Two things this check leaves out: Instant GOAT's limit also rises during a day that makes a new high, and its 2% floating loss limit can close the account first when the loss is in open trades. Slippage isn't modelled.

The check opens on Day 3: a −$5,500 worst moment from the $107,000 snapshot leaves $101,500, under the $101,650 floor, with equity only $3,500 under the closed balance.

Six days on a $100,000 2-Step Standard evaluation: Day 3 is GFT's example, the other five are invented. The Maximum Loss is $90,000 throughout.

6$94,000$94,000$94,000$4,700$89,300$90,000$4,000

On Day 3 a trade open in profit at the reset lifts the floor to $101,650, $3,350 under the closed balance. On Day 4 an open trade is $1,500 down, so the snapshot takes the balance and equity starts only $3,650 above the floor. By Day 6 the static floor binds.

An open profit at the 5 PM reset raises the day's floor; an open loss doesn't lower it.

Goat Funded Trader instant funding rules

An Instant account is funded the day you pay, with no target, and its maximum loss trails. On Instant GOAT it is "a fixed amount equal to 6% of your initial balance," so $100,000 starts with the limit $6,000 lower, at $94,000. It follows each new high of balance or equity "as soon as the new high is reached," never moves down, "stops moving once it reaches your initial balance," and resets after each payout. GFT's example: at $104,000 the limit is $98,000, a drop to $103,000 leaves it there, and at $107,000 it "would be $101,000, but it stops at $100,000." (The general difference: trailing vs static drawdown.)

The daily floor is 3% under the reset value: an account that "starts the next day at $104,000" has $100,880.

Five days on a $100,000 Instant GOAT account: the values on Days 1 to 4 follow GFT's example path, one a day, and Day 5 is invented; the daily floors on Days 1 and 2 are GFT's figures, those on Days 3 to 5 are ours, 3% under each value by GFT's rule.

Goat Guard: Goat Funded Trader's floating-loss rule on funded accounts

Funded accounts from the 1-Step, 2-Step and 3-Step get a softer version. Goat Guard triggers when open trades together are down 2% of the initial account size, a fixed $2,000 on $100,000. The first trigger leaves trades open and the account active, but "Your profit split is reduced to 50%." A second trigger breaches the account. The same set of open positions floating around −2% counts once; close one or open another, and the new set can trigger again. Instant, GOAT Blitz and Pay Later accounts don't have Goat Guard: there, a floating loss of 1% to 2%, by model, is a hard breach. (Goat Guard, updated October 5, 2026.)

Goat Funded Trader payout rules

Funded accounts pay "every 14 days after placing their first trade," with a $100 minimum, no open trades at the request, and no partial withdrawals. The split is 80% (90% on Instant HERO; most models sell a 100% add-on), and "All rewards are subject to a 3% processing fee," taken after the split: an invented $5,000 profit at 80% is $4,000, less $120, so $3,880 reaches you.

Payout ruleWhat GFT publishes
Profitable days per payout4 on 2-Step and 1-Step accounts bought from late July 2026 (not published for the 100K promo), 5 on Instant GOAT and Premium, 6 on Instant HERO; the count restarts after each payout
First two payoutsCapped at 6% of the initial balance or $10,000, whichever is lower; 4% on $5,000 2-Steps bought from July 25, 2026 and $5,000 Instant HERO accounts from October 6, 2026

Does Goat Funded Trader have a consistency rule?

Not on the 1-Step, the 2-Steps or Instant Premium. Instant HERO and GOAT have one at 15%: "no single trading day can account for more than 15% of your total profits during a payout period." The 100K promo's card shows "40% (Funded Stage Only)." On HERO and GOAT, going over doesn't breach the account; it holds the payout until the best day's share falls back. GFT's example: a $1,500 day needs $10,000 of total profit.

The rule in general is in our consistency rule guide, and our consistency calculator runs GFT's 15% (source, updated September 12, 2026).

Goat Funded Trader news, weekend, EA and copy-trading rules

PracticeGoat Funded Trader's rule
NewsAllowed. A trade opened or closed within 5 minutes either side of a high-impact release (red folder on ForexFactory or Myfxbook) keeps at most 1% of the initial balance in profit, challenge and funded; the excess is removed, not a breach
WeekendsHolding allowed; on funded accounts, profit from trades opened in Friday's last three market hours and closed in Monday's first three is removed
EAs"only if you developed it yourself"; purchased, shared, off-the-shelf and pass-the-challenge EAs banned; proof "for example the source code" on request; no HFT or Gold Arbitrage EAs; no switching between an EA and manual trading from evaluation to funded
VPS, VPNBanned during trading from October 6, 2026: "a straight breach." "If your EA needs a VPS to run, you cannot use it on a Goat Funded Trader account."
Copy tradingOnly the GOAT Trade Copier, from October 12, 2026, between your own GFT accounts: $2 per connected account a month, $4 at least. Signals and external accounts banned
Also bannedHedging, in one account, across your accounts, with other traders or another firm; martingale ("strictly prohibited"); latency and price-error exploits; using "more than 80% of available margin" in one idea ("not permitted"; may mean "profit deductions or phase resets")

For EA builders one rule stays vague: GFT doesn't say whether an EA built on code you bought counts as developed yourself, or what proof besides source code it accepts. Grid EAs are vague too: "similar grid-based recovery systems may result in account termination," and GFT doesn't define one. GFT may also cap risk at 1% of the initial balance per trade idea.

The plan cards offer MetaTrader 5, cTrader, Match-Trader and TradeLocker (no cTrader on the promo). Commission is $5 a lot on forex and metals, $0 on the rest, on MT5, Match-Trader and TradeLocker. Evaluation leverage is 1:100 on forex, 1:20 on indices and commodities, 1:5 on stocks, 1:2 on crypto; funded, forex drops to 1:50 and indices and commodities to 1:10. There are no swap-free accounts.

Who can sign up for Goat Funded Trader?

Residents of the US, UK, Canada and Australia can, going by GFT's restricted-country list: none of the four is on it. US clients get fewer platforms: "MT5 and Ctrader are not available to clients located in the USA," which leaves TradeLocker, Match-Trader and Volumetrica, and they can't enter GFT's free monthly competition. The list (updated October 1, 2026):

Afghanistan, Belarus, Bolivia, Bosnia, Central African Republic, Chile, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Hong Kong, Iran, Israel, Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant and Al-Qaida, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Myanmar, North Korea, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, Somalia, South Korea, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Togo, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen, Zimbabwe.

The Terms let GFT limit sales to "any person, geographic region, or jurisdiction" and require you to be 18; each person may register once. This isn't legal or tax advice. (platforms, updated August 13, 2026; competitions, October 8.)

Where do Goat Funded Trader's own pages disagree?

  1. The fee. The plan cards say "ONE-TIME 100% REFUNDABLE FEE." The help center refunds it with the fourth payout, or if GFT ends the collaboration over trading style. The site's Refund Policy says "There are no refunds on any Services purchased from the Company," with no exception.
  2. Three steps. The how-it-works page offers a challenge "in 1,2 or 3 steps," and the 3-Step article doesn't say it's withdrawn; the plan cards have no 3-Step.
  3. Instant leverage. The HERO and GOAT cards say "Up to 1:100"; the Instant HERO article and the leverage FAQ's funded column give 1:50 on forex.
  4. Platforms. The platform FAQ lists Volumetrica; the cards don't offer it.
  5. Exactly at the consistency limit. The general article says no day can be "X% or more" of profit; the Instant articles say "more than 15%"; the Goat Stride article says "A best day of exactly 15% is eligible."
  6. The reset clock. "5 PM EST" in the trading-day article; "5 PM New York time" in the GOAT $1 article.
  7. The floating limit's base. Instant GOAT: "2% of your initial account balance." Instant HERO and Premium: "of your account balance," with examples that use the account size.
  8. Maximum capital. The how-it-works page says "Simulated Capital up to $400,000. Scalable to $2 Million."; the help center says "The maximum capital you can collect is $400,000"; no article explains the $2 million.

Where we sit

We're not affiliated with Goat Funded Trader and earn nothing if you buy from it. We sell the Prop Firm Challenge Toolkit, a TradingView indicator that turns the rule numbers and balance you enter into daily-loss, drawdown and target buffers in dollars. It has no GFT preset, so set its Custom rules from the tables above. It doesn't read GFT's dashboard, which is the source of truth. The balance you type is both its day's start and the high a trailing limit follows, so it can't see losses you've already closed today or an earlier, higher close: keep Current balance at the session's starting balance and put the day's running P&L, closed and open, in Open floating P/L. More firms on the prop firm rules hub, including The5ers, whose daily floor works the same way.

Frequently asked questions

What are Goat Funded Trader's rules?

They depend on the model. On 2026-10-19 the plan cards sold a 1-Step (a 10% target, 3% daily loss, 6% static maximum), a 2-Step GOAT (8% then 6%, 4% daily, 10% static), a 2-Step Standard (10% then 5%, 5% daily, 10% static), a $99 100K promo, and Instant HERO, GOAT and Premium accounts with no target, a 3% daily loss and a 5% or 6% trailing maximum. Funded splits are 80%, or 90% on Instant HERO.

How does Goat Funded Trader's daily drawdown work?

At the 5 PM EST reset GFT takes the higher of your balance and equity and sets the day's floor a percentage under it: 3% on the 1-Step and on Instant HERO, GOAT and Premium, 4% on the 2-Step GOAT, 5% on the 2-Step Standard. GFT's own example: equity of $107,000 on a 2-Step Standard puts the floor at $101,650. Equity must stay above it all day, or the account closes.

Is Goat Funded Trader's maximum loss static or trailing?

Static on the 1-Step and 2-Step evaluations: 10% under the initial balance on both 2-Steps ($90,000 on $100,000) and 6% on the 1-Step. Trailing on the Instant accounts: 6% on GOAT and Premium, 5% on HERO, moving up the moment balance or equity makes a new high and stopping at the initial balance. On the Instant accounts it resets after each payout.

What are Goat Funded Trader's payout rules?

Funded accounts pay every 14 days after the first trade, with a $100 minimum. The split is 80% (90% on Instant HERO), then a 3% processing fee comes off the reward. The first two payouts are capped at 6% of the initial balance or $10,000, whichever is lower. Each payout also needs profitable days of 0.5%: 4 on new 1-Step and 2-Step accounts (not published for the 100K promo), 5 on Instant GOAT and Premium, 6 on Instant HERO.

Does Goat Funded Trader have a consistency rule?

Not on the 1-Step, the two 2-Steps or Instant Premium. Instant HERO and Instant GOAT allow no single day above 15% of the payout period's profit, and the 100K promo's card shows 40% on the funded stage. On HERO and GOAT, going over doesn't breach the account; it holds the payout until the best day's share falls back. GFT's example: a $1,500 day needs $10,000 of total profit.

What is Goat Funded Trader's Goat Guard?

A floating-loss rule on funded accounts from the evaluation models: when your open trades together are down 2% of the initial account size ($2,000 on $100,000), the first trigger cuts your profit split to 50% and the second breaches the account. Instant, GOAT Blitz and Pay Later accounts don't have it; on those a floating loss of 1% to 2%, by model, closes the account outright.

Can you trade news or use EAs at Goat Funded Trader?

News: yes, but a trade opened or closed within 5 minutes of a high-impact release keeps at most 1% of the initial balance in profit. EAs: only ones you developed yourself, with proof such as the source code on request; no HFT or gold-arbitrage EAs, and from October 6, 2026 no VPS, so an EA that needs one can't run there. Copy trading goes only through GFT's own copier.

Can US, UK, Canadian and Australian traders join Goat Funded Trader?

Going by GFT's restricted-country list (updated October 1, 2026), yes: none of the four is on it. US clients can't use MT5 or cTrader, which leaves TradeLocker, Match-Trader and Volumetrica. Hong Kong and Singapore are restricted, along with Russia, Ukraine, Israel and South Korea, among others.
