Click the square Layout setup button on the chart's top toolbar, just left of Save, and pick how many charts you want: 1 to 16. The free Basic plan allows 1 chart per tab, so the free way to watch two markets is two browser tabs. The planner above shows the grid you picked and the cheapest plan that allows it.

How do I show multiple charts on TradingView?

Use Layout setup, the square icon left of Save. We opened it on tradingview.com/chart, signed out, on 2026-10-23. Its menu is a grid of layouts by chart count: 1 to 10, then 12, 14 and 16, with several arrangements for most counts (side by side, stacked, one big chart and smaller ones).

Pick one and the tab splits. Click a chart to select it, then change its symbol or interval. Two shortcuts help here, from TradingView's own shortcuts list: Tab moves between the charts of a layout, and Alt+Enter maximizes the active one and restores it. The shortcuts guide has the rest.

Can you have multiple charts on TradingView for free?

Not in one tab, but you can in two. Signed out, we picked a 2-chart layout. TradingView answered with "Several charts per tab": "Your plan has 1 chart per tab limit", recommending Essential, which allows 2.

What Basic does allow is 2 simultaneous chart connections, and TradingView's help on chart connections says "Each tab in the web version and apps is counted as one connection." So two browser tabs, each with its own chart, fit the free plan. A third tab closes the oldest one.

What each plan allows

Charts per tab doubles at each plan, from 1 to 16. These are three rows of TradingView's pricing page, read the same day:

PlanCharts per tabSaved chart layoutsSimultaneous chart connections
Basic112
Essential2510
Plus41020
Premium8No limit50
Ultimate16No limit200

The same page ticks Native multi-monitor support and Tab linking by symbol between windows on every plan, Basic included. So more screens cost nothing; more charts in one tab do.

Each chart in a layout also has its own indicator limit, which is per chart, not per layout: 2 on Basic up to 50 on Ultimate. The indicator limit guide covers it.

How do I sync charts in a layout?

With the Sync in layout switches at the bottom of the same menu. There are five: Symbol, Interval, Crosshair, Time and Date range. When we opened it, only Crosshair was on.

Sync Symbol to see one market on several timeframes: change the symbol once and every chart follows. Sync Interval for the opposite, several markets on one timeframe. Crosshair and Time are for reading the charts side by side at the same moment.

Why did my chart tab close by itself?

You opened more chart tabs than your plan's connections. TradingView's help: "Once the limit is reached, the oldest connection (the earliest opened tab) will get closed." The closed tab shows a Restore connection button, and restoring it "will terminate the connection in another tab", so save your layout first.

The help's own advice is the one this page started with: "To optimize your connections, you can use the multi-chart layouts feature." One tab with four charts is one connection; four tabs are four.

Where we stand

The menu, the upgrade message and the three plan rows are what tradingview.com showed us, signed out, on 2026-10-23. We didn't sign in to a paid plan, so we haven't seen a 16-chart layout run. If TradingView changes the plans, its pricing page is right and this one is out of date until we read it again.

Frequently asked questions

How do I show multiple charts on TradingView?

Click the square Layout setup button on the chart's top toolbar, just left of Save, and pick a layout. The menu offers 1 to 10, 12, 14 and 16 charts, in several arrangements each. Click a chart to make it active, then change its symbol or interval.

Can you have multiple charts on TradingView for free?

Not in one tab. The free Basic plan allows 1 chart per tab, and picking a 2-chart layout signed out brought up a message that the plan has a 1 chart per tab limit. Basic does allow 2 simultaneous chart connections, and TradingView counts each tab as one, so two browser tabs with a chart each is the free way.

How many charts per tab does each TradingView plan allow?

1 on Basic, 2 on Essential, 4 on Plus, 8 on Premium and 16 on Ultimate, from the Charts per tab row of TradingView's pricing page on 2026-10-23.

How do I sync charts in a TradingView layout?

Open Layout setup and use the Sync in layout switches: Symbol, Interval, Crosshair, Time and Date range. Crosshair was the one switched on by default when we opened it.

Why did my TradingView chart tab close by itself?

You went over your plan's simultaneous chart connections. TradingView counts each chart tab in a browser or its apps as one connection, and once the limit is reached the oldest tab is closed. It offers a Restore connection button; save the layout first, because restoring closes another tab.

How many chart layouts can you save on TradingView?

1 on Basic, 5 on Essential, 10 on Plus, and no limit on Premium and Ultimate, from the pricing page's Number of saved chart layouts row on 2026-10-23.
