A simulated sketch of the layout, not a screenshot: text is drawn as blank bars, and only the controls this page names are labeled.
Read as text
- 1. Open the full chart: Supercharts, or Full chart on a symbol page.
- 2. Find the Pine Editor icon: the right toolbar.
- 3. The editor opens: a panel beside the chart.
- 4. Paste, save, add: Save, then Add to chart.
- TradingView Desktop opens the editor from the same button. Older guides that say "bottom of the chart" predate the August 2025 move.
How this window was chosen: Places and control names from TradingView's help and blog on the Pine Editor, checked 2026-10-17. TradingView changes its layout between versions; the icon's place can move.
Where is the Pine Editor on a computer?
Open the full chart, then click the Pine Editor icon on the right toolbar. The full chart is Supercharts in TradingView's Products menu, the page at tradingview.com/chart. TradingView's help on the Pine Editor puts it plainly: "click the "Pine" icon on the right toolbar". Hover over it and the tooltip reads Pine Editor.
The editor opens as a panel beside the chart. In our 1600-pixel-wide browser it held an Untitled script, with Add to chart, Save and Publish script along its top and a version 6 template underneath. It starts out floating, per the help page. You can dock it to the right, put it under the chart with Move to bottom, or open it in a new window or tab.

TradingView Desktop has the same button. We run the app every day with a community MCP server, and that server opens the editor by clicking the very Pine Editor button the website uses.
Two shortcuts help once it's open. Ctrl+S saves (Pine docs, first indicator), and Ctrl+Enter, Cmd+Enter on a Mac, adds or updates the script on the chart (TradingView blog). We found no documented shortcut that opens the editor itself.
Why can't I see the Pine Editor?
Check these four, in order. Each one we either saw on 2026-10-17 or TradingView documents.
- You're on a symbol page, not the chart. Pages such as tradingview.com/symbols/NASDAQ-AAPL have no Pine Editor button. Click See on Supercharts or Full chart on that page.
- You're following an older guide. The editor used to be a tab at the bottom of the chart. TradingView's release notes for August 2025 record the move to the side panel, rolled out "in phases over the following weeks". Some of its own pages still say "select the "Pine Editor" tab at the bottom of the TradingView chart" (Pine docs). Look right, not down.
- You're on the website's phone layout. On a phone-sized screen the chart had no right toolbar, so no Pine Editor button. The next section has the way round it.
- You closed it or moved it. The panel floats, docks and detaches into other windows, so it can end up somewhere you didn't expect. Closing it costs nothing: "all open scripts and unsaved changes will be restored the next time you launch the editor", says the help page.
A narrow window wasn't the cause in our test. At 900 pixels wide the icon was still on the right toolbar.
How do I open the Pine Editor on a phone?
In your phone's browser, request the desktop site; the right toolbar comes back with the Pine Editor icon on it. We checked with an iPhone's screen and browser in an emulator. The phone layout had no button. Switched to the desktop site (a desktop browser's identity at desktop page width, which is what that request does), the icon sat on the right toolbar.
TradingView's own answer is a standalone editor page, tradingview.com/pine. Its 2022 editor blog says the editor "does not appear in the browser by default" on mobile devices and points to that page, with a Copy all option in its menu. We haven't tested adding a script to a chart from that page when you open it on its own. An editor detached from a chart stays linked to it, according to TradingView's detach-mode post.
Long code is fiddly to paste on a phone. Save the script once wherever pasting works, and it's on your account for every device; the Pine Script guide covers a paste that comes out short.
Is there a Pine Editor on iPad?
In the browser, yes in our check. With an iPad's screen size and Safari's user agent, the chart showed the Pine Editor icon on the right toolbar, the same as a computer. That was an emulator, not a physical iPad. TradingView's help says nothing either way about the iPad.
Can you use the Pine Editor in the TradingView app?
TradingView doesn't document one, and we haven't tested the app. Its mobile-app help covers showing, hiding and changing the settings of indicators on the chart, not writing scripts. What is documented is where a script goes when you save it: TradingView's servers, under your account (Pine docs, first steps). So paste and save on a computer or the desktop site, then look for the script in the app's indicator list. We won't give a tap path in the app that we can't check.
Where does a saved script go?
To the Indicators dialog, under Personal, then My scripts. Click Indicators on the chart's top toolbar, or press /, to open the dialog TradingView calls Indicators, metrics, and strategies. On 2026-10-17 its sidebar had a Personal heading holding My scripts and Purchased. TradingView's help calls the tab My scripts and its Pine docs call it Personal, which is why guides disagree; both labels are on screen. Click your script and it's on the chart.
The editor is on every plan, the free Basic one included: TradingView's pricing page ticks Pine Script for all five, checked 2026-10-17. Basic allows 2 indicators per chart, and your script takes one of them (the limits by plan).
From here, How to add Pine Script to TradingView covers the paste, the common compile errors and the v6 conversion, and How to open a .pine file gets the code out of a file you downloaded.
Where we stand
We sell Pine Script indicators as source code, so everyone who buys one of ours meets the Pine Editor on day one. Each tool in our Pine v6 stack ships as a .pine file you paste in, save and add to the chart: the same steps as above.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the Pine Editor in TradingView?
On the full chart (Supercharts), click the Pine Editor icon, a small pine tree, on the right toolbar. The editor opens as a panel beside the chart. TradingView moved it there from a tab at the bottom of the chart, in phases from August 2025.
Why is the Pine Editor not showing in TradingView?
Usually one of three things: you are on a symbol page instead of the full chart, you are on the website's phone layout, or you are following a guide that still sends you to the bottom of the chart. Open Supercharts and look at the right toolbar.
Is the Pine Editor still at the bottom of the chart?
Not by default. TradingView began moving it to the side panel in August 2025. You can still put it there: Move to bottom in the editor's menu places it under the chart, and it can also float, dock right or open in a new window.
How do I open the Pine Editor on my phone?
In the phone's browser, request the desktop site. In our check on 2026-10-17 the phone layout had no Pine Editor button and the desktop site had one on the right toolbar. TradingView also points phone users to its standalone editor page at tradingview.com/pine.
Does the TradingView app have a Pine Editor?
TradingView doesn't document one, and we haven't tested the app. A saved script lives on TradingView's servers under your account, so save it from a computer or the desktop site, then look for it in the app's indicator list.
Is the Pine Editor free?
Yes. TradingView's pricing page ticks Pine Script for the free Basic plan as well as the paid ones, checked 2026-10-17. Basic allows 2 indicators per chart, and a script you add takes one of them.
