Apex Trader Funding Rules 2026: Every Account, Sourced and Dated.

EOD and Intraday evaluations, Performance Accounts and payouts: profit targets, both trailing drawdowns and where they stop, daily loss tiers, the 50% consistency rule, the safety net and the six-payout ladder, each quoted from Apex's own help center and dated. One sample payout cycle, animated, shows where the threshold stops and what the safety net leaves to request.

PL · 10 min read
Explainer cover titled Apex: the trailing threshold. A line chart of a sample payout cycle on a 50K EOD Performance Account: the closing balance rises from $50,000 to $52,600 with daily P&L labels; a red threshold steps up from $48,000 under the highest close and stops at $50,100, labelled, once Friday's close passes the dashed $52,100 safety net line. A dashed $52,600 request line sits above it, and a dotted orange soft daily limit follows $1,000 under each close.

Apex Trader Funding sells two evaluation types, EOD and Intraday, in 25K, 50K, 100K and 150K sizes, each a one-time fee for 30 calendar days with no resets. The maximum drawdown is $1,000 to $4,000. On EOD accounts it trails your closing balance once a day; on Intraday accounts it trails your highest balance in real time, unrealized gains included. In a Performance Account it stops trailing at your starting balance plus $100; in a Tradovate evaluation it never stops. Evaluations have no consistency rule. Performance Account payouts need 5 qualifying days, a largest day under 50% of your profit since the last payout, and a balance above a safety net. Apex pays 100% of approved payouts, at most six per account.

The trailing threshold: where it stops

Before each session, find your threshold: your highest close minus the drawdown (EOD), or your highest balance so far, open trades included, minus the drawdown (Intraday). In a Performance Account it never rises past the starting balance plus $100. Touch it and positions are liquidated.

  • EOD: "recalculated once per trading day at 4:59:59 PM ET, based on the account's closing balance. It always trails the highest achieved EOD balance and never moves downward," and it's "enforced in real time."
  • Intraday: it "follows the account's highest intraday balance (Peak Balance)" and "is enforced in real time, including unrealized PnL." An open trade that makes a new high lifts the line at once.

Mon: close $52,600, the $52,600 a payout request needs. The threshold stays at $50,100.

Illustrative balances, not market data: the trades are invented. The rules are Apex's, as quoted in the drawdown and payout sections from archived copies read 2026-10-08: a $2,000 threshold trailing the highest close and stopping at $50,100 in a Performance Account, Level 1's $1,000 daily loss limit, the $52,100 safety net.

Rule: threshold = the highest closing balance − $2,000, never moving down and never above $50,100 (the starting balance plus $100): it stops once a close reaches $52,100.

Read as text
  1. Start: $50,000. The threshold starts $2,000 below, at $48,000. Level 1's $1,000 daily loss limit, soft, sits $1,000 under each close for the next session.
  2. Mon: close $50,600. The threshold trails up to $48,600.
  3. Tue: close $51,700. The threshold trails up to $49,700.
  4. Wed: −$300. The threshold stays at $49,700: it never moves down.
  5. Thu: close $51,800. The threshold trails up to $49,800.
  6. Fri: close $52,150, past $52,100. The threshold stops at $50,100. In a PA the safety net equals the balance at which the threshold stops: $52,100.
  7. Mon: close $52,600, the $52,600 a payout request needs. The threshold stays at $50,100.
Will this day breach the floor?Pick a session from the sample cycle and drag its worst moment: the daily loss limit or the threshold, which comes first?
session startthresholddaily loss limit, −$1,000−$1,00049,00050,00051,00051,40049,700

The daily loss limit flattens you at $50,400: done for the day, until it resets at 6PM ET. The account survives, $700 above the threshold.

Session starts and thresholds from the film's sample cycle: invented trades, Apex's rules as quoted on this page from archived copies read 2026-10-08. In this Performance Account the daily loss limit is always on, $1,000 at Levels 1 and 2. Slippage past a limit isn't modelled.

Where trailing stops depends on the stage and the platform, not the drawdown type:

AccountMax drawdownThreshold at the startPA: stops atonce the high reachesRithmic or Wealthcharts evaluation: stops atonce the high reaches
$25,000$1,000$24,000$25,100$26,100$26,500$27,500
$50,000$2,000$48,000$50,100$52,100$53,000$55,000
$100,000$3,000$97,000$100,100$103,100$106,000$109,000
$150,000$4,000$146,000$150,100$154,100$159,000$163,000

In a Tradovate evaluation the drawdown "trails indefinitely." Apex prints only the 50K example; the other rows apply its stated rules. Two things follow:

  • In an evaluation, plan as if it trails all the way. The stop level sits a full drawdown past the profit-target balance ($55,000 on a 50K), and the evaluation ends at the target.
  • In a PA, the safety net is the stop level. On a 50K both are $52,100: the balance that makes a payout possible is already past the point where the threshold stops.

Our calculator can't model this. The trailing drawdown calculator trails a percentage of the peak with no stop level, and never sees Intraday's unrealized peaks. Entered as 4%, the sample's $51,700 close gives $49,632 against Apex's $49,700: $68 more room than you have. After $52,600 it gives $50,496; Apex's threshold has stopped at $50,100. By hand: the lower of (highest close − $2,000) and $50,100 (static vs trailing).

The sample cycle behind the films: invented trades on a 50K EOD Performance Account, with Level 1's 2 contracts and $1,000 daily limit, $250 qualifying days, 50% consistency, the $52,100 safety net and payout 1's $1,500 cap.

  • Access: "30 consecutive calendar days," expiring at 6:00 PM ET on day 30. "There are no reset options."
  • Review: the target is checked at market close (4:59:59 PM ET); the account is marked Passed after 6 PM ET.
  • Activation: 7 calendar days to pay the one-time Performance Account activation fee, or the chance "cannot be reinstated." A "No Activation Fee Evaluation" sets that fee to $0 under the same rules.

Performance Accounts

The Performance Account (PA) "is a Simulated Funded (Sim Funded) account" in the size and drawdown type of your evaluation; you can hold up to 20. Contract limits and the daily loss limit move in tiers, reviewed at each close from your end-of-day profit; they can fall back, never below Level 1.

The daily loss limit counts "both realized and unrealized losses," flattens you when the session's net loss reaches it, and "resets daily at 6PM ET"; the account stays open. The Intraday PA page adds: "If you do not record at least two $50 net profit days within 30 consecutive calendar days, the account will be closed."

Mon: 5 qualifying days, 42.31%, $52,600: all three hold. The request can be only $500.

Illustrative balances, not market data: the trades are invented. The rules are Apex's, as quoted in the payout and consistency sections from archived copies read 2026-10-08: 5 days of $250 or more, a largest day under 50% of profit since the last payout, and only profit above the $52,100 safety net, at least $500, can be requested.

Rule: a payout needs 5 qualifying days ($250+ each), the largest day under 50% of profit since the last payout (profit needed = largest day ÷ 0.5), and a balance of $52,600: the $52,100 safety net plus the $500 minimum request.

  1. Mon: +$600, profit $600, largest day $600 = 100.00% of it, 1 qualifying day, balance $50,600.
  2. Tue: +$1,100, profit $1,700, largest day $1,100 = 64.71% of it, 2 qualifying days, balance $51,700.
  3. Wed: −$300, profit $1,400, largest day $1,100 = 78.57% of it, 2 qualifying days, balance $51,400. Not a qualifying day, and it raises the share.
  4. Thu: +$400, profit $1,800, largest day $1,100 = 61.11% of it, 3 qualifying days, balance $51,800.
  5. Fri: +$350, profit $2,150, largest day $1,100 = 51.16% of it, 4 qualifying days, balance $52,150. Three checks fail: 4 qualifying days, $50 more for 50%, and the balance under $52,600.
  6. Mon: +$450, profit $2,600, largest day $1,100 = 42.31% of it, 5 qualifying days, balance $52,600. All three checks hold: $52,600 minus the $52,100 safety net leaves a $500 request; the payout 1 cap is $1,500.

Friday fails three checks: 4 qualifying days, 51.16%, and $52,150 against $52,600. In our consistency calculator (best day $1,100, total $2,150, threshold 50) it reads 51.16%: $2,200 required, so $50 more (Apex wants the largest day under 50%, so a cent more than that). Monday clears every check, but the request can be only $500: $52,600 minus the $52,100 safety net. Asking for payout 1's full $1,500 would need a $53,600 balance.

On this cycle the safety net, not the 50% rule, set the payout: $2,600 of profit, $500 you could request.

Rules that apply to every account

From Apex's Prohibited Activities page, captured 2026-03-25, the oldest source here; recheck it first.

  • Close before the close: "Holding open trade positions through the market close" is prohibited; the trading day resets at 6:00 PM ET.
  • News: "Trading during news is allowed for your normal trading strategy," but not strategies that "chase the market" or "place orders on both sides" of a release.
  • Hedging: long and short "on the same or correlated instrument" at once "is strictly prohibited."
  • Stops: "All trades must have either pending or mental stop losses." Banned: "Using the Trailing Threshold as a Stop Loss," and tiny targets against huge stops ("a five-tick profit target with a 150-tick stop loss").
  • Automation and sharing: "No Automation or Algorithm Usage allowed," no high-frequency trading, no account sharing, no trade copying with other traders.

Live trading is a separate, invitation-based program; "Traders are not able to have both Live and Sim accounts at the same time," and live profits split 90/10 (Live Program FAQ, captured 2026-08-14).

Prices: not verified

Apex's help center prints no prices ("Current pricing can be viewed directly from the product selector during checkout"), we couldn't load the checkout on 2026-10-08, and the Internet Archive's latest copy of the home page (2026-10-04) is a block page. The help center does say an evaluation is a one-time fee that "does not renew," "There are no reset fees," and the PA activation fee is one-time and non-refundable.

Where do Apex's own pages disagree?

  1. Under 50%, or at 50%? The consistency page says "must represent less than 50%" and the payout pages fail "50% or more," but its shortcut and example table mark exactly 50% "✓ Consistency Met," and its first line says "more than 50%." Stay under 50%.
  2. Since which payout? "Since your last approved payout" on one line, "since your last payout request" on another.
  3. Where Intraday PA trailing stops. "Max Trailing Drawdown Amount + $100" (Intraday PA page) or "Starting Balance + $100" (drawdown explainer). We use the explainer, which has a worked example.
  4. Where Intraday evaluation trailing stops. The explainer's FAQ says at "Profit Target Balance + $2,000"; its worked example fixes the threshold at $53,000 once the balance reaches $55,000. We use the example.

Frequently asked questions

Where are Apex Trader Funding's official rules?

In Apex's own help center, but Apex's website refused every automated request we made on 2026-10-08, so this guide reads Internet Archive captures of the help center dated 2026-03-25 to 2026-09-27, and its prices are not verified. Older captures are more likely to be out of date: check Apex's live pages and your dashboard before you pay.

When does the Apex daily loss limit reset?

At 6PM ET, per Apex's Daily Loss Limit page as archived on 2026-07-14. The limit counts realized and unrealized losses and flattens you for the session when your net loss reaches it, without closing the account. In the evaluation only EOD accounts have one ($500 to $2,000 by size); Performance Accounts use tiers.

Is Apex's drawdown trailing or static?

Trailing on both account types, per Apex's drawdown pages as archived on 2026-05-27 and 2026-07-14: EOD accounts trail the highest closing balance, recalculated once a day at 4:59:59 PM ET, and Intraday accounts trail the highest balance in real time, unrealized gains included. In a Performance Account the threshold stops at the starting balance plus $100; during an evaluation, plan as if it trails all the way.

What is Apex's 50% consistency rule?

It applies to Performance Account payouts, not evaluations: your largest profitable day must stay under 50% of your total profit since your last approved payout, losing days included. Being above 50% doesn't fail the account; the payout button just stays hidden. That's from Apex's consistency page as archived on 2026-07-26, which words the line more than one way, so treat 50% as a line to stay under.

Can you trade news with Apex?

Yes, for your normal trading strategy, but strategies that chase the market or place orders on both sides of a release are prohibited. That comes from Apex's Prohibited Activities page as archived on 2026-03-25, the oldest source in this guide, so recheck it first.

Can you hold Apex positions overnight?

No: Apex's Prohibited Activities page, as archived on 2026-03-25, prohibits holding open positions through the market close, and the trading day resets at 6:00 PM ET. That page is the oldest source in this guide, so recheck it first.

Does Apex allow automated trading or copy trading?

No. Apex's Prohibited Activities page, as archived on 2026-03-25, bans automation and algorithm usage, high-frequency trading, account sharing and trade copying with other traders. It's the oldest source in this guide, so recheck it first.

How do Apex payouts work, and is there a minimum number of days?

Evaluations have no minimum day count, but a Performance Account payout needs 5 qualifying days, a largest day under 50% of profit since the last payout, and a balance above the safety net, your drawdown limit plus $100. Requests run from $500 up to a per-payout ladder, Apex pays 100% of approved payouts up to weekly, and the account closes after 6 payouts. That's per Apex's evaluation and payout pages as archived on 2026-09-26.

Explainer cover titled Lucid drawdown: the line that locks. A chart of a sample week on a 50K LucidPro funded account: daily P&L bars step the balance from $50,000 to $52,600; a red Max Loss Limit trails $2,000 under the highest close from $48,000 up to $49,750, then locks at $50,100 once the balance passes the dashed $52,100 line. Dotted orange daily-limit floors sit under each day's open, and a $500 payout arrow ends the week at $52,100.
