Topstep consistency rule calculator

Topstep's own consistency rules for the Trading Combine and the Express Funded Account, sourced and dated, run over your days.

Use a minus sign for a losing day. More than 6 days? Switch to best day + total.

Target raised to $3,272.73

Your $1,800 best day is over $1,650, 55% of the $3,000 target, so the target becomes $1,800 ÷ 0.55 = $3,272.73. You need $2,272.73 more, on later days of no more than $1,800: at least 2 more days.

Share or save this Topstep check:
  • Profit target $3,000: not met. $1,000 so far
  • Best day at or below 55% of profit: not met. $1,800 is more than your $1,000 total: other days lost money

Starts on Topstep's own example: a $1,800 best day, then a losing day that leaves $1,000. The rules are Topstep's, read on 2026-10-17. Each day you enter counts as a closed trading day with at least one trade. The check doesn't know your Maximum Loss Limit, your Daily Loss Limit or Topstep's payout review; your Topstep dashboard is the source of truth.

The best day that keeps the Combine target

55% of the profit target. Topstep's table says to stay below it; a bigger best day raises the target.

Trading CombineProfit target55% of the target
50K$3,000$1,650
100K$6,000$3,300
150K$9,000$4,950
Topstep's own example: $1,800, then a loss to $1,000

The calculator opens on Topstep's example: a $1,800 best day on a 50K Combine, then a losing day that leaves $1,000 of profit. "Losses don't reset your best day", so the target becomes $1,800 ÷ 0.55 = $3,272.73 (Topstep rounds it to $3,273): $2,272.73 more, on later days of no more than $1,800, at least 2 more days.

Switch to XFA Consistency and the same days need $1,800 ÷ 0.4 = $4,500 of net profit, $3,500 more. Topstep's payout page gives the same arithmetic: a $2,000 best trading day needs at least $5,000 of total net profit.

How the calculator reads your days

Best day ÷ total profit against Topstep's line, in whole cents.

The Combine, the XFA's two paths and Live

Trading Combine. You need the profit target and a best day at or below 55% of your total profit. Over the line, the profit needed becomes your best day ÷ 0.55. Topstep calls 55% "a hard line" that "is not rounded", so the check compares in cents; a share exactly on 55% passes on the consistency page's "at or below", and the check warns you that the Combine page says to stay below it.

Express Funded Account, Consistency path. Your largest day must be 40% or below of your net profit for the payout window, over at least 3 trading days with a trade each. The window starts over after each payout request. Enter the days since your last payout.

Standard path and Live. No consistency rule: a payout needs 5 winning days of $150 or more net P&L. The check counts them for you, and on the Standard path asks whether this is your first payout, which is exempt from its net-profit rule. On Live, Topstep opens daily payouts once you have 30 such days in the Live account.

What Topstep's pages leave open

Exactly 55%, and when a best day locks.

Two details to plan around
  • Exactly on 55%. The consistency page says "at or below 55%", but its own best-day table says "Less than $1,650" on 50K, and the Combine parameters page says to keep your best day "below 55%". The check passes a best day exactly on the line and flags it when you land there.
  • The same session. Profit made in the session that set your best day adds to that day. Topstep says the rest has to come "on a separate trading day"; a Combine best day locks at 3:10 PM CT.

The rules in depth, with what going over costs and how each payout path works, are in Topstep consistency rule and Topstep XFA rules.

While you trade for the extra profit

This check reads the consistency line only. While you trade for the profit it asks for, the Maximum Loss Limit is what can close the account. We sell the Prop Firm Challenge Toolkit, a TradingView indicator that turns rule numbers you enter into dollar buffers on your chart: how far you are from your loss limits, and from the profit target. Enter Topstep's numbers as its Custom rules. It doesn't check the consistency rule, which is what this page is for, and it doesn't read your Topstep dashboard, which stays the source of truth.

Method and privacy

Method: Trading Combine: best day ÷ total profit at or below 55%, or the target becomes best day ÷ 0.55. XFA Consistency path: largest day ÷ net profit at 40% or below, over at least 3 trading days. Comparisons run in whole cents; the Maximum Loss Limit and Daily Loss Limit are not checked.

Calculations run entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded. Your last numbers stay in this browser so you can pick up where you left off; Forget them clears them. A link with your numbers carries them after the # sign, which browsers do not send to servers, and the page takes them out of the address before any analytics loads. Common questions

What is Topstep's consistency rule?

In the Trading Combine, your best day "must stay at or below 55% of your Profit Target": $1,650, $3,300 or $4,950 on a 50K, 100K or 150K account (Topstep's own table says to stay below these). Go over and the target becomes your best day ÷ 0.55. In the Express Funded Account only the Consistency payout path has a rule: your largest day must be 40% or below of your net profit when you request a payout.

How is Topstep's consistency calculated?

Topstep's formula is "Best Day Profit ÷ Total Profit = Best Day %" in the Combine, and "Largest Single-Day Net Profit ÷ Total Net Profit" on the XFA Consistency path. Topstep's own example: a $1,600 best day on $3,000 of profit is 53%, within 55%.

What happens if you exceed Topstep's consistency rule?

In the Combine your profit target goes up to your best day ÷ 0.55: Topstep's example turns an $1,800 best day into a $3,273 target on a 50K account ($3,272.73 to the cent). On the XFA Consistency path a share over 40% holds back your payout request until more profit brings it down. Neither closes the account.

Does the Topstep XFA have a consistency rule?

Only on the Consistency payout path, which you choose when you activate the account: your largest single day must be 40% or below of your total net profit, with at least 3 trading days of 1 trade or more. The Standard path has no consistency rule; it needs 5 winning days of $150 or more net P&L instead.

Does Topstep's consistency reset after a payout?

On the XFA Consistency path, yes. Topstep says your consistency calculation resets to $0 after a payout is requested and counts only profit from the new window, which starts on the trading day after the request. The Trading Combine's rule runs over the whole Combine.

Is Topstep's consistency rule 50% or 55%?

55% in the Trading Combine, as read on 2026-10-21. Topstep calls 55% "a hard line" that "is not rounded", with no buffer, and says the old buffer was padding on top of a 50% target. Summaries quoting 50% describe that old target.

Do losing days count in Topstep's consistency rule?

Yes, through the total. "Losses don't reset your best day": if your best day is $1,800 and a losing day brings your total profit down to $1,000, your best day is still $1,800, and the target becomes $3,272.73.

These tools calculate from your inputs, supported historical records or explicitly labelled teaching examples. They do not verify a live account, predict future returns or confirm that a broker or prop-firm rule has been met. Missing costs, floating losses and changed market conditions can materially change outcomes. Trading can lose the capital committed to it; check the stated method and your account specifications.
