One account, worked through
A Topstep 50K XFA at $1,800 with an 8-point ES stop: 3 minis today, 2 fit the stop.
The tier, the next tier and the stops, step by step
The XFA starts at $0, so $1,800 sits in the "$1,500 - $2,000" row of Topstep's 50K Scaling Plan: 3 minis or 30 micros for the session. The next row, 5 minis, starts above $2,000, $200 away; the tier only moves at the close.
An 8-point stop on ES is 32 ticks of $12.50: $400 a mini, $40 a micro. With the $1,000 Daily Loss Limit added, one stop-out has to leave the day above it, so 2 minis ($800) fit and 3 ($1,200) would not.
The Maximum Loss Limit trails $2,000 under the highest close and locks at $0; at a highest close of $1,800 it sits at −$200, $2,000 of room. At 2 minis that is 2 stops, and the next one reaches the limit.

Daily loss limit: $1,000, optional, ending the day, not the account.100K: 10 minis or 100 micros. Max loss: $3,000, trailing the highest close, locking at $100,000. Daily loss limit: $2,000, optional, ending the day, not the account.150K: 15 minis or 150 micros. Max loss: $4,500, trailing the highest close, locking at $150,000. Daily loss limit: $3,000, optional, ending the day, not the account.Micros: Ten micros count as one mini against the cap ("1 Mini = 10 Micro contracts"); Micro Silver counts as 2 micros, and Micro Bitcoin and Micro Ether are capped at mini-equivalent sizes. The Combine has a flat cap and no Scaling Plan; the Scaling Plan starts in the Express Funded Account. The Daily Loss Limit is optional, picked at checkout; hitting it ends the session and isn't a rule violation.Current restrictions on Risk Adjustments (edited 2026-10-21), $50K/$100K/$150K: CL, QM, RB, HO and GC at 3/6/9, MCL and MGC at 30/60/90 micros, SIL and MHG at 2/5/7, and SI, HG and PL not at all. The calculator applies the CL and GC rows on those markets; in the XFA they are a ceiling, and the Scaling Plan can set a lower one.For the 10 minutes around Tier 1 news (CPI, FOMC, NFP, PPI) there are no new positions in equity-index and metal minis; new positions in MES, M2K, MYM, MNQ and MGC are limited to 3, 6 or 9 contracts on a $50K, $100K or $150K (lower by Scaling Plan row in the XFA), and in MHG and SIL to 2, 5 or 7.Sources: Trading Combine® Parameters, edited 2026-09-24; What is the Scaling Plan?, edited 2026-07-16; What is the Maximum Loss Limit?, edited 2026-09-18; Daily Loss Limit in the Trading Combine and Express Funded Account, edited 2026-06-30; Risk Adjustments: High Risk/High Volatility, edited 2026-10-21
- Express Funded Account (XFA)50K: 2–5 minis by the scaling plan, up to 5 minis or 50 micros. Max loss: $2,000, trailing the highest close, locking at $0; a payout request moves it to $0. Daily loss limit: $1,000, optional, ending the day, not the account.

Max loss: $4,500, trailing the highest close, locking at $0; a payout request moves it to $0. Daily loss limit: $3,000, optional, ending the day, not the account.Micros: Ten micros count as one mini against the cap ("1 Mini = 10 Micro contracts"); Micro Silver counts as 2 micros, and Micro Bitcoin and Micro Ether are capped at mini-equivalent sizes.Topstep publishes the rows only as a chart image, which we read on the day. "Your max contracts do not increase mid-session": a higher row starts with the next session, and a payout that drops the balance into a lower row lowers the limit. At $2,000, $3,000 and $4,500 the chart puts the balance in the lower row, or in two rows (the 100K and 150K at $2,000, the 150K at $3,000), while Topstep's restricted-product example on Risk Adjustments treats the round number as the higher row. The calculator takes the lower row, the stricter reading. $1,500 is in the $1,500 - $2,000 row.The Maximum Loss Limit starts $2,000/$3,000/$4,500 under the $0 start, trails closes and locks at $0; the first payout sets it to $0. The Daily Loss Limit is optional, added at checkout or activation.Current restrictions on Risk Adjustments (edited 2026-10-21), $50K/$100K/$150K: CL, QM, RB, HO and GC at 3/6/9, MCL and MGC at 30/60/90 micros, SIL and MHG at 2/5/7, and SI, HG and PL not at all. Daily loss limit: set by the row.Micros: Topstep says the 10:1 micro-to-mini ratio isn't available on Live, and its Live restricted-product caps count micros one for one (MGC 5/10/15), though its Labs page prints "5 mini / 50 micros" for a Labs Live account. The calculator counts a micro as one contract, the stricter reading.Position limits stay at 5/10/15 lots until $100,000 of Live profit (Dynamic Live Risk Expansion Tier 4, up to 30 lots; then up to 50, 70 and 100). The Daily Loss Limit starts at $2,000/$3,000/$4,500 and rises $500 at $15k, $20k and $50k of Live profit; the calculator keeps the starting amount, the stricter reading.A tradable balance at or below $10,000 caps the account at 5 lots and a $2,000 Daily Loss Limit, at or below $5,000 at 3 lots and $1,000. A drop applies from the next session; the standard limits return only after the Friday close, so until then enter the lower balance.Current restrictions on Live: CL, QM, RB, HO, MCL and GC at 3/6/9, MGC at 5/10/15, SIL and MHG at 2/4/6; the calculator applies the CL and GC rows on those markets.Below $1,000 the account may be liquidated and closed at the end of the day; Topstep publishes no trailing loss amount for Live. Daily loss limit: set by the row.Micros: Ten micros equal one standard contract against the cap ("ten (10) micro contracts equal one (1) standard contract"); the cap covers every open position on every instrument, and an order over it is rejected, not a violation. The level is set once a day, before the session, from the prior full session's close (4:59:59 PM ET); it never changes during the session and moves down as well as up. Reaching the level's daily loss limit flattens and pauses the session; the PA stays open. A holiday or half-day session doesn't reset the daily loss limit.50K Level 4 starts at "$5,999 & Up" on Scaling Levels (PA) Explained, whose Level 3 runs to $5,999, and at "$6,000 & Up" on Daily Loss Limit Explained. Contracts are 4 either way; the calculator starts Level 4's $3,000 daily loss limit at $6,000, the stricter reading. The threshold trails $1,000/$2,000/$3,000/$4,000 under the high and stops at the starting balance + $100 once the high reaches the start + the drawdown + $100 (50K: $50,100 at $52,100). How the calculator counts
The tier from the last close, the smaller row on a shared edge, and a stop-out that has to leave you above each line.
The four readings it takes
The tier comes from the last close. The firms that say when set a scaling tier from the end-of-day balance and don't raise it mid-session (Topstep's Live limits come back only after the Friday close), so enter the balance the session started from, not the one on screen after a winning trade. Tradeify keeps a Select tier once a close reaches it, so there the tier follows your highest close.
A shared edge gets the smaller row. Where a firm's chart puts one balance in two rows (Topstep's 100K lists $2,000 in "$1,500 - $2,000" and "$2,000 - $3,000"), the calculator takes the smaller allowance, except where the firm says a row starts when the balance reaches it (Tradeify's 300K).
Fitting a stop means staying above the line. A size fits when one stop-out leaves the balance above the daily loss limit and above the max loss floor; a loss that lands exactly on a limit counts as hitting it, since touching the max loss limit ends the account.
Micros count by the firm's ratio. Most firms count ten micros as one mini; where a firm says otherwise, its plan says so in the rules above.
What it leaves out
Slippage and commission, intraday dips, news-time and volatility caps, and payouts.
Each, in a sentence
Slippage, gaps and commission. The loss is counted at the stop price; a fast market, a gap or per-contract fees make a real stop-out larger.
Intraday highs. A limit that trails intraday follows open profit too; enter the highest balance the account has touched, open profit included, or the room shown is too generous.
Lower caps in volatile markets. Firms can cut the contracts allowed on some products around news or in high volatility (Topstep lists its risk adjustments by product); those cuts aren't in the calculator.
Payouts. A payout can move a max loss limit (Topstep's XFA goes to $0) or a scaling tier down with the balance; enter the balance and highest balance after the payout.
