Sources, and why CT
CME Group runs Globex on Chicago time, so every rule here is written in CT and converted: New York (ET) is always one hour ahead and Los Angeles (PT) two hours behind, because the three cities change their clocks on the same dates. On UTC the week opens at 23:00 from November to March and 22:00 from March to November. Hours as listed by AMP Futures: Trading hours and EdgeClear: Exchange holiday hours (read 25 October 2026); CME's own page is CME Group: Holiday and trading hours. CME's crypto futures moved to 24/7 trading on 29 May 2026 (The Block: CME launches 24/7 crypto futures and options).

Why futures times say typical, with sources
The dates and the stock market's closures and 1:00 PM early closes are NYSE's own (NYSE: Holidays and trading hours, read 25 October 2026). CME publishes each holiday's futures hours about two weeks before it. Until then a time here is the pattern CME used in recent years, kept only where two published schedules agree: Discount Trading: Futures holiday schedule, EdgeClear: Exchange holiday hours and helloweekends: CME holiday calendar 2026 (read 25 October 2026). Where they disagree or only one gives a time, the table says to be confirmed and the clock shows the stretch striped instead of guessing. cmegroup.com refuses automated reads, so a person checks each CME notice and the row turns "CME confirmed".
Prop firm flat-by times
The end-of-day rule each firm publishes, in CT, ET and PT; the clock above counts down to each on yours.
| Firm | Flat by | The firm's rule |
|---|---|---|
| Topstep | 15:10 CT 16:10 ET · 13:10 PT | All positions closed by 3:10 PM CT every weekday; Risk Managers start flattening from 3:08 PM CT. Topstep: When and what products can I trade?, read 2026-10-20. |
| Apex Trader Funding | 15:59 CT 16:59 ET · 13:59 PT | All trades closed before 4:59 PM ET, earlier on some agricultural futures; holding through the close forfeits the account. Apex: Futures Trading Times, read 2026-10-18. |
| Lucid Trading | 15:45 CT 16:45 ET · 13:45 PT | Flat by 4:45 PM EST on LucidPro, LucidFlex and LucidDirect. Lucid writes EST all year; we read it as New York time, the earlier of the two. On a holiday with an altered close, flat before the market closes. Lucid: Allowed Trading Times, read 2026-10-10. |
| Tradeify | 15:45 CT 16:45 ET · 13:45 PT | Every position flat by 4:45 PM ET; nothing held into the next session or over the weekend. 12:59 PM ET on holiday short days. Tradeify: Permitted Times to Trade, read 2026-10-17. |
On a holiday early close
A firm's cutoff assumes a regular session. On a holiday the market can close first: on the Friday after Thanksgiving equity index futures close at 12:15 CT in the usual pattern, hours before any of these cutoffs. Lucid says to be flat before an altered close and Tradeify sets 12:59 PM ET on holiday short days. Check your firm's notice in holiday weeks; the contract limits and daily loss tools cover the rest of the day's rules.
Futures hours vs forex hours
The same week, one hour apart: spot forex runs Sunday 17:00 to Friday 17:00 New York time, Globex 18:00 to 17:00.
Where they differ
Spot forex has no exchange and no daily break of its own; CME's FX futures (6E, 6J, 6B) follow Globex, opening on Sunday at 18:00 New York time, an hour after the forex week, and stopping for an hour every day. Gold quoted as XAUUSD by a broker is the broker's product with its own sessions; gold futures (GC, MGC) trade Globex hours. Sessions on your clock are on the forex market hours page.
