"Day before" means the reset falls on the evening before Prague's date: the trading day of Wednesday 28 October starts on Tuesday 27 October at 19:00 in New York. Prague is UTC+2 in summer and UTC+1 in winter, so the reset is 22:00 or 23:00 UTC.
When the reset moves on New York's clock
Prague and New York change their clocks on different Sundays.
- From the evening of 8 Mar 2026: 18:00 → 19:00 New York time
- From the evening of 29 Mar 2026: 19:00 → 18:00 New York time
- From the evening of 25 Oct 2026: 18:00 → 19:00 New York time
- From the evening of 1 Nov 2026: 19:00 → 18:00 New York time
- From the evening of 14 Mar 2027: 18:00 → 19:00 New York time
- From the evening of 28 Mar 2027: 19:00 → 18:00 New York time
- From the evening of 31 Oct 2027: 18:00 → 19:00 New York time
- From the evening of 7 Nov 2027: 19:00 → 18:00 New York time
Between each pair of dates the two cities are on different sides of daylight saving and the reset is an hour later in New York, and about an hour later on MetaTrader's server clock. London changes on the same Sundays as Prague, so there it stays at 23:00 all year. Clocks without daylight saving (Dubai, India, Bangkok, Singapore) move once in spring and once in autumn, on Prague's dates.
What FTMO resets at 00:00 CE(S)T
From FTMO's Trading Objectives, read 2026-10-29.
- The Maximum Daily Loss limit, on the 2-Step (5%), the 1-Step (3%) and the Instant Account (3%): the balance at midnight minus that share of initial capital. Equity, with open positions' floating loss, must stay above it until the next midnight, so a trade held across the reset brings its open loss into the new day.
- The 1-Step's Maximum Loss, which trails the highest midnight balance by 10% of initial capital. The 2-Step's is static; the Instant Account's trails each closed-trade high in real time.
- The trading day runs 00:00:00 to 23:59:59 CE(S)T. A day you open at least one position counts toward the 2-Step's 4 minimum trading days, and each day's closed profit is measured there for the 1-Step's and the Instant Account's best day.

The MetaTrader server clock
Why the daily candle doesn't start at the reset.
GMT+2 plus daylight saving, on New York's dates
FTMO gives its MetaTrader server time as "GMT+2 +DST", and its Trading Update of 22 October 2026 dates the change: GMT+3 until 2 November 2026 and GMT+2 after, the week New York leaves daylight time. So the D1 candle on MetaTrader opens at 00:00 server time, about an hour before FTMO's reset for most of the year and two hours before it in the gap weeks. Count a day's loss from the reset, not from the candle. cTrader and TradingView show the time zone you set.
We model the server clock as UTC+3 while New York is on daylight time and UTC+2 otherwise. That fits FTMO's dated update, but FTMO doesn't print the rule in those words, so the server column is an estimate.
Trading near the reset
The new day's limit is set from the balance, not equity, at midnight. If you go into the reset with an open loss, that loss is already inside the new day's room. Work out what's left with the daily loss limit calculator, or see where both floors sit in our FTMO rules guide. Choosing between the challenges? The FTMO 1-Step vs 2-Step calculator runs both on your numbers.
We sell the Prop Firm Challenge Toolkit, a TradingView indicator that draws your daily-loss and drawdown floors in dollars on your chart from the rules and balance you enter. Your FTMO Account MetriX remains the source of truth.
