FTMO describes the Instant Account's objectives as stricter than either challenge's. You also complete FTMO Identity at your first Reward rather than before trading. The 1-Step's rules, day by day, are in our FTMO 1-Step rules guide.
The 110% line, worked through
A $100,000 account, the calculator's opening numbers and one that went past the line.
Your highest closed balance was $108,200, so the Maximum Loss Limit sits at $108,200 − $10,000 = $98,200. With $107,500 closed, a Reward pays 90% of $7,500, $6,750, and the account restarts at $100,000: $1,800 above the limit, which doesn't move. The next cycle starts with $1,800 of room, not $10,000.
Had the balance peaked at $112,400 before closing at $111,000, the limit would be $102,400. A Reward would put the account at $100,000, $2,400 under it: the request itself breaches. That is FTMO's own warning: once your balance exceeds 110% of the initial capital, a Reward withdrawal would breach the limit, and avoiding that is your responsibility.
How the calculator reads your numbers
Closed balances, the way FTMO checks a Reward request.
The limit, the Reward, Consistency
The limit. FTMO recalculates it in real time from the highest balance reached by closed positions, or the initial capital if higher, minus 10% of initial capital. Open trades don't raise it, but they count against it: equity must stay above the limit.
The Reward. All positions closed, from the 14th day after the first trade; 90% of the profit is yours. The account restarts at its initial capital and the limit stays, so the calculator compares the two.
Consistency. Your best day's closed profit can be at most 30% of total closed profit since the last Reward, losing days included. Missing it isn't a breach: you keep trading until it holds, which takes best day ÷ 0.30 of total profit.
