MT5 VPS size calculator

Count your MT5 terminals and see the VPS size vendors publish, and whether MetaQuotes' hosting takes it.

Updated 29 October 2026. Runs in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded.

Example: 2 terminals, 4 charts each2 terminals: Eco Pro, 2 GB

One per account. Count demo accounts and every account a copier feeds.

Only charts with an EA on them; indicators alone don't count here.

Does any EA load a DLL?

An #import "something.dll" line in the .mq5 or .mq4 file.

A typical terminal has

FXSVPS counts 1 GB for the first and 2 GB for the second.

terminal64.exe on the Processes tab, with your charts and EAs loaded. 0 if you haven't measured.

2 terminals on one Windows VPS

Eco Pro: 2 GB, 2 cores

FXSVPS's rule, one gigabyte a terminal, makes 2 GB; the plan's card says "Two terminals with EAs running" (Licensed Windows 2016–2022). Its knowledge-base guide agrees: 2 GB for this many.

MetaQuotes' own MT5 hosting

Takes it: 2 subscriptions, one per account

  • One rented terminal works with one trading account, up to 32 EA charts (16 on free hosting), up to 3 GB of memory, no DLLs, and nothing to look after but the migration.

The math: memory ≈ terminals × one terminal's measured memory + Windows

Read from FXSVPS's plan pages and MetaQuotes' VPS rules. Vendors change plans: check the card before you pay.

How much RAM does MT5 need?

No fixed figure. FXSVPS counts 1 GB a terminal with four charts and one EA, 2 GB with about ten charts and many indicators.

What MetaQuotes and FXSVPS publish

MetaQuotes' installation help says MT5 runs on Windows 10/11 and that “hardware requirements depend on specific platform use conditions — load from running MQL5 applications, number of active instruments and charts” ( MetaQuotes, Installation). On its own hosting it allocates each platform “up to 3 GB of RAM, up to 16 GB of hard disk space” (mql5.com/en/vps). FXSVPS's MT5 page gives the rule it says it uses in tickets: “one gigabyte, one terminal” with “four charts and one expert advisor on each”, and “two gigabytes for a terminal like that” with ten charts and a stack of indicators (FXSVPS, MetaTrader 5 VPS). Its knowledge base gives 2 GB for 2–3 terminals, 4 GB for 4–6 terminals, 8 GB for 8–12 terminals (FXSVPS, Run Multiple MT4 MT5): the same company, two answers, so the calculator shows both. Your own figure is in Task Manager: terminal64.exe's memory with your charts and EAs loaded, on an ordinary trading day.

How many MT5 terminals fit on one VPS

Where these come from, and one plan left out

From Cheap Forex VPS and Best Forex VPS, read on 29 October 2026. FXSVPS's own instruction is to “count every MT4 and MT5 window you keep open at once, including demo accounts and anything a copier feeds”, and its Cheap page says that three or more terminals should start on the Best range. Three cards name more terminals than they have gigabytes (Eco Zone two on 1.5 GB, Ultra 4 to 5 on 4 GB, Premium 5 to 7 on 6 GB), while FXSVPS's MT5 page and the Best page itself say “one gigabyte, one terminal”: the calculator keeps the gigabyte rule, so two terminals go to Eco Pro, five to Premium and seven to Professional. Its smallest plan, Starter (768 MB, “One MT4 or MT5”), has less memory than FXSVPS's own gigabyte a terminal, so the calculator doesn't pick it. Each terminal needs its own install folder: two copies can't run from one.

MetaQuotes' VPS or a Windows VPS?

MetaQuotes' hosting is one account per rented terminal, no DLLs; a Windows VPS is a whole machine you look after.

The limits that decide it

MetaQuotes' rules: “One rented terminal can work only with one User's trading account”; up to 32 charts with EAs migrate on paid hosting and 16 on free; “Any DLL calls are forbidden”, and charts without an EA don't move (MetaQuotes, VPS rules). If one account runs EAs that need no DLL, its hosting is the shortest route, rented from inside MT5. Several accounts, MT4, a DLL, or a copier between accounts on one machine point to a Windows VPS, where Windows updates and restarts are yours to manage. MT5 VPS walks renting MetaQuotes' hosting, and its prices on the day we read them.

Making MT5 use less memory

Lower Max bars in chart (minimum 5000, restart to apply) and close the charts you don't trade from.

MetaQuotes' reason

MetaQuotes' settings help: the bars shown in charts are “limited by the computer resources”, and “when multiple indicators and large amount of data to be displayed are used simultaneously, computer free resources (CPU load and free RAM) can exhaust very soon” (MetaQuotes, Platform settings). Before you pick the VPS's city, find where your broker's server answers from with the broker server location finder.

Method and privacy

Method: The plan is the smallest FXSVPS plan that holds FXSVPS's own rule, one gigabyte a terminal with four charts and one EA and two with about ten charts and many indicators, and whose card names that many terminals (fxsvps.com, read 29 October 2026); MetaQuotes' limits are its VPS rules and VPS page, read the same day. We haven't benchmarked MT5's memory ourselves: a measured figure is multiplied by your terminals, and we add 1 GB for Windows on top, our allowance rather than a measurement.

Calculations run entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded. Your last numbers stay in this browser so you can pick up where you left off; Forget them clears them. A link with your numbers carries them after the # sign, which browsers do not send to servers, and the page takes them out of the address before any analytics loads. Copy and download actions save your calculation locally. The site may record coarse tool actions under its privacy policy, without inputs, results, file contents or filenames.

Common questions

How much RAM does MT5 need on a VPS?

There is no single figure: MetaQuotes says hardware needs depend on the MQL5 programs running and the number of active symbols and charts. FXSVPS counts one gigabyte a terminal with four charts and one EA, and two for a terminal with ten charts and a stack of indicators, while its knowledge base gives 2 GB for 2–3 terminals, 4 GB for 4–6 and 8 GB for 8–12. MetaQuotes' own hosting allocates up to 3 GB of RAM to each platform. Measure yours: terminal64.exe's memory in Task Manager with your charts and EAs loaded.

How many MT5 terminals can run on one VPS?

As many as its memory and cores hold, each installed in its own folder. FXSVPS's plan cards, read on 29 October 2026, name one terminal on Eco Starter (1 GB), two on Eco Zone (1.5 GB, light EAs) and Eco Pro (2 GB), 2–3 on Lite (3 GB), 4–5 on Ultra (4 GB), 5–7 on Premium (6 GB) and 7–8 on Professional (8 GB). Its own gigabyte-a-terminal rule is stricter than three of those cards, so the calculator follows the rule.

Should I use MetaQuotes' VPS or a Windows VPS?

MetaQuotes' Virtual Hosting is rented from inside MT5 and takes one trading account per rented terminal, up to 32 charts with EAs (16 on free hosting) and no DLLs; you manage only the migration. A Windows VPS runs as many terminals as it holds, MT4 and DLL-based EAs included, and Windows, restarts and updates are yours to look after.

Can MetaQuotes' VPS run several accounts?

No. Its rules say "One rented terminal can work only with one User's trading account", so three accounts need three subscriptions. A Windows VPS can run the three terminals side by side.

How do I make MT5 use less memory?

Lower Max bars in chart under Tools, Options, Charts: MetaQuotes says the bars shown in charts are limited by the computer's resources and that many indicators on a lot of data can exhaust free RAM quickly. Its minimum is 5000, and the change takes effect after a restart. Close charts you don't trade from.

Limits and trading risk

These tools calculate from your inputs, supported historical records or explicitly labelled teaching examples. They do not verify a live account, predict future returns or confirm that a broker or prop-firm rule has been met. Missing costs, floating losses and changed market conditions can materially change outcomes. Trading can lose the capital committed to it; check the stated method and your account specifications.
