What MQL4 says

4111 ERR_SHORTS_NOT_ALLOWED
Shorts are not allowed. Check the Expert Advisor properties

From MQL4's table of error codes, read 24 October 2026. An Expert Advisor reads it with GetLastError() after a call fails; the Experts and Journal tabs print what the EA logs.

What causes it

The EA tried to open a sell while its properties allow only buys. In the EA's properties, the Common tab's Positions setting is Long&Short, Only Long or Only Short (MT4 help).

How to fix it

Open the EA's properties, Common tab, and set Positions to Long&Short; or keep Only Long and stop the EA from sending sells.

These tools calculate from your inputs, supported historical records or explicitly labelled teaching examples. They do not verify a live account, predict future returns or confirm that a broker or prop-firm rule has been met. Missing costs, floating losses and changed market conditions can materially change outcomes. Trading can lose the capital committed to it; check the stated method and your account specifications.
