TRADE_RETCODE_INVALID

Invalid request

Cause and fix for 10013

What MQL5 says

10013 TRADE_RETCODE_INVALID
Invalid request

From MQL5's table of trade server return codes, read 22 October 2026. An Expert Advisor finds it in MqlTradeResult.retcode; the Experts and Journal tabs print it.

What causes it

A field of the trade request is wrong or missing for the action it asks for: a structure that was never zeroed, an action without the position ticket it needs, a type that does not fit the action.

The fix in MQL5

Zero the request before filling it (MqlTradeRequest req = {}), set every field the action needs, and run OrderCheck() first: it returns its own retcode and a comment that names the problem.

Before
void MoveStops(const ulong ticket, const double sl, const double tp)
  {
   MqlTradeRequest req; // never zeroed: the other fields hold leftovers
   MqlTradeResult  res;
   req.action = TRADE_ACTION_SLTP;
   req.symbol = _Symbol;
   req.sl     = sl;
   req.tp = tp; // and no position ticket
   if(!OrderSend(req, res))
      Print("OrderSend failed: ", res.retcode);
  }
After
void MoveStops(const ulong ticket, const double sl, const double tp)
  {
   MqlTradeRequest     req = {};
   MqlTradeResult      res = {};
   MqlTradeCheckResult check = {};
   req.action   = TRADE_ACTION_SLTP;
   req.position = ticket; // which position to change
   req.symbol   = _Symbol;
   req.sl       = sl;
   req.tp       = tp;
   if(!OrderCheck(req, check))
     {
      PrintFormat("OrderCheck: %u %s", check.retcode, check.comment);
      return;
     }
   if(!OrderSend(req, res))
      Print("OrderSend failed: ", res.retcode, " ", res.comment);
  }

Method: The constant and the description are MQL5's reference table of trade server return codes, read 22 October 2026. The MQL5 code compiles in MetaEditor 5 with no errors or warnings; it is an example to adapt and was not run against a trade server.

A link with your numbers carries them after the # sign, which browsers do not send to servers, and the page takes them out of the address before any analytics loads. Limits and trading risk

These tools calculate from your inputs, supported historical records or explicitly labelled teaching examples. They do not verify a live account, predict future returns or confirm that a broker or prop-firm rule has been met. Missing costs, floating losses and changed market conditions can materially change outcomes. Trading can lose the capital committed to it; check the stated method and your account specifications.
