MT5 error 10015: Invalid price in the request

Round pending prices to SYMBOL_TRADE_TICK_SIZE, keep a buy limit below the Ask and a sell limit above the Bid, and read a fresh Ask or Bid for market orders.

Updated 22 October 2026. Runs in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded.

The number after retcode= in MT5's Experts or Journal tab. 41 codes, as MQL5's reference words them.

10015

TRADE_RETCODE_INVALID_PRICE

Invalid price in the request

Cause and fix for 10015

What MQL5 says

10015 TRADE_RETCODE_INVALID_PRICE
Invalid price in the request

From MQL5's table of trade server return codes, read 22 October 2026. An Expert Advisor finds it in MqlTradeResult.retcode; the Experts and Journal tabs print it.

What causes it

The price in the request is not one the server can use: a pending order's price with more decimals than the symbol's tick size allows, a pending order on the wrong side of the market, or a market order's price that is no longer current.

The fix in MQL5

Round pending prices to SYMBOL_TRADE_TICK_SIZE, keep a buy limit below the Ask and a sell limit above the Bid, and read a fresh Ask or Bid for market orders.

Before
#include <Trade/Trade.mqh>
CTrade trade;

void PlaceBuyLimit(const double lots, const double offset)
  {
   const double ask = SymbolInfoDouble(_Symbol, SYMBOL_ASK);
   trade.BuyLimit(lots, ask - offset, _Symbol); // ask - 0.37 * ATR: more decimals than the symbol quotes
  }
After
#include <Trade/Trade.mqh>
CTrade trade;

double NormalizePrice(const string symbol, const double price)
  {
   const double tick = SymbolInfoDouble(symbol, SYMBOL_TRADE_TICK_SIZE);
   const int digits  = (int)SymbolInfoInteger(symbol, SYMBOL_DIGITS);
   return(NormalizeDouble(MathRound(price / tick) * tick, digits));
  }

void PlaceBuyLimit(const double lots, const double offset)
  {
   const double ask   = SymbolInfoDouble(_Symbol, SYMBOL_ASK);
   const double price = NormalizePrice(_Symbol, ask - offset);
   if(price < ask) // a buy limit sits below the Ask
      trade.BuyLimit(lots, price, _Symbol);
  }

Method: The constant and the description are MQL5's reference table of trade server return codes, read 22 October 2026. The MQL5 code compiles in MetaEditor 5 with no errors or warnings; it is an example to adapt and was not run against a trade server.

Limits and trading risk

These tools calculate from your inputs, supported historical records or explicitly labelled teaching examples. They do not verify a live account, predict future returns or confirm that a broker or prop-firm rule has been met. Missing costs, floating losses and changed market conditions can materially change outcomes. Trading can lose the capital committed to it; check the stated method and your account specifications.
