What the official sources say
In a warning of 31 December 2022, Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) said it had observed invitations to invest in foreign-currency trading, or forex, and renewed its warning that these instruments are not lawful inside Egypt. It said promoters and marketers expose themselves to legal liability for breaching Egyptian law, and that anyone who deals through them faces serious risks.
Since May 2025 the FRA has published a negative list of entities that violate the laws on non-banking financial activities. It urges the public not to be drawn in by financing or investment offers from unlicensed entities, to check its register of licensed non-banking financial entities, and to report invitations from unlicensed entities to the Authority.
