What the official sources say
In a June 2022 public notice, the Bank of Ghana answers "No" to the question whether online forex trading is legal or regulated in Ghana. It says section 3(1) of the Foreign Exchange Act, 2006 (Act 723) prohibits trading in forex, online or otherwise, without a Bank of Ghana licence, and that universal banks and foreign exchange bureaux are the only institutions licensed to trade in foreign currencies in Ghana.
Ghana's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also warns about unlicensed investment schemes promoted online. In a notice of 22 July 2026 it named 23 entities promoting investment offerings through social media and online channels that it had not licensed to carry out capital market activities under the Securities Industry Act, 2016 (Act 929), and said the public can confirm an entity's licensing status with the Commission.
