Forex trading, Bank Negara Malaysia and the SC
From 3 official sources, checked 8 October 2026.
What the official sources say
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) describes an illegal foreign exchange trading scheme as the buying or selling of foreign currency by an individual or company in Malaysia with anyone who is not a licensed onshore bank (a commercial, Islamic, investment or international Islamic bank) or has not obtained BNM's approval under the Financial Services Act 2013 or the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013. It advises dealing only with licensed onshore banks and checking with the relevant authorities before remitting, investing or depositing money.
BNM's Financial Consumer Alert List names entities and schemes it has not authorised to offer the financial products or services it regulates, and the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) keeps an Investor Alert List of unauthorised entities and individuals; the SC says investing through them leaves you unprotected under Malaysian securities laws. Neither list is complete: BNM says a name missing from its list is not confirmation of a licence, and the SC says its list is not exhaustive.
This is a summary of public sources, not legal or tax advice. Rules and hours change: check with your regulator, and with your broker, before you open an account.

Why London–New York, with the source
London and New York overlap when the two largest trading locations' business days coincide; the UK alone handled 38% of global FX turnover in April 2025 (BIS). That is a fact about volume by location, not a forecast for any pair or hour.
