What the official sources say
Under Singapore's Securities and Futures Act, dealing in capital markets products, including spot foreign exchange contracts for the purposes of leveraged foreign exchange trading, is a regulated activity, and a financial institution carrying it on in Singapore needs a Capital Markets Services licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
In June 2025 the police and MAS said they would block the websites of two overseas platforms that had offered and marketed leveraged forex trading, along with commodities, indices and equities, to Singapore customers without the required licences, in breach of the Act. They urged the public to deal only with platforms holding valid licences, which are listed in the MAS Financial Institutions Directory. MAS also keeps an Investor Alert List of persons that may be wrongly perceived as licensed or regulated by it, and says the list is not exhaustive.
